“Convenient Business Hotel”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

I have stayed here three times and have been very pleased with this property. The rooms are large, clean and well-equipped with kitchenette facilities. The TV channel selection is good and free wi-fi is available. The included buffet breakfast is above average. Most helpful is that some cold foods are available as early as 5:30 - 6:00 AM for those guests with early flights. The location is very convenient to the airport and to a varierty of shops and restaurants. There is a Starbucks, a Sushi place and a Carl's Jr next door, but a short drive away in Natomas Marketplace is BJ's Brewery Restaurant, which I highly recommend. The staff at the hotel are friendly and all common areas are well-maintained. If I return to Sacramento, I will gladly stay here again.

This location was perfect, central and easy to access via all freeways. The hotel itself is out of the way, yet close enough to enjoy either business or leisure trips. Except for a few very important items this hotel meets all needs as do most Marriotts. The items to watch for are:

1. SMOKING - Although there are signs everywhere that this is a smoke-free location, it is NOT! People smoked right outside of my room, even leaving their cigarette butts on my welcome mat! I complained and was told... sorry we cannot do anything about it. The smoke entered thru my door and I was also told that the hotel is planning to renovate and until then they cannot do anything, but change my room.

2. There are no signs when you check in to let you know that they automatically charge $40 per day to your credit card for incidentals. They do not call it incidentals, rather they term it Security Hold. Do not really think that is legal, but let it go. BE CAREFUL TO ADDRESS THIS PRIOR TO GIVING THEM YOUR CARD OR IT WILL BE TOO LATE!

On the positive side, the food, cleanliness and way they treat pets (like family) was good. I had a service dog and they knew what the laws were and how to handle service animals as if it was an everyday occurance.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side are the quietest and farthest from the freeway Building 10, 11, 12 & 13...

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We have jsut started our renovation, and should be completed this summer/fall. Our romms are being gutted, pretty much the only thing NOT being replaced is the bathtub. I hope you'll think of us the next time in Sacramento. Hopefully you'll have a chance to stay in one of our new rooms then.

As of October 2006, Marriott has a non smoking policy in effect for all their North American hotels. We do our best monitoring the activity, and we do charge a $250 fee if we find evidence of a guest smoking in a guest room. I am a non smoker, and I think that we have the same feeling about people smoking nearby.

Hope to see you again

This is a go-to accommodation for our youth sports organization during the many basketball tournaments in Sacramento. The 2bdrm suites are very popular for families, a good value at $109/night. Plusses: Hotel provides a full daily breakfast (eggs, sausage, waffles, choice of cereals and muffins, juice, coffee etc when we were there). Overall facility is clean and non-smoking, free wi-fi (good for those of us who bring work on these trips). There's a courtyard bbq area, large pool and social room that can be reserved. The group manager, Celestine, makes sure everyone in the group gets what they need. Minus - It's in the middle of a field off I-5, finding the entrance is tough, not enough signage. Also, if you're in a room fronting the freeway, you'll hear it. These are minor concerns, however. We've used this facility for both my son's and daughter's teams during tournament season for 6+ years, and will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for the side not facing the freeway

Dear MeezerMom,

Thanks for pointing out the great benefits and features our unique hotel has to offer. We always enjoy hosting the many teams and families of March madness. You will be happy to know that we started our renovation last week, and will be complete in August. And yes, we’re working on getting better signage too. We appreciate all your comments.

See you next year!

We were just looking for a room for one night since our flight came it late. We came in from the airport around midnight and were given our choice of upstairs or downstairs room, which was such a nice surprise since we had gotten our room from a low price bidding site. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bed was really nice. We thought breakfast lasted longer, so when we arrived it had been closed for 15 minutes (warning, breakfast ends at 9:00am on weekdays!). However, there was a basketball team staying on site so they made more food and it was really good. Probably the best hotel buffet breakfast that I've ever had. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The location is easy off the freeway and seems really safe. Probably an area that is more suited to business travelers, but there are plenty of stores and services. We were two women traveling together and we felt very safe. I highly recommend this hotel, you won't be disappointed. The only thing to be aware of is the regular rooms only have 1 queen bed and a sofa bed. If you need more than one bed, you will have to get a 2 room suite. It worked fine for us, the rooms are large and include a kitchen. Also, I understand that a remodel will be starting soon, so be aware of that. The pool looked beautiful and if it was summer I would love to just hang out and enjoy it. Hopefully we can come back some day.

Room Tip: If you don't want to use the sofa bed as a second bed, you will need a 2 room suite to get 2 que...

It's meant as an easy place to stay close to the airport. It was comfortable and felt more "homey" than some of its peers in the same category and location. We'd pick this one over the others in the future. Well done Residence Inn Sacramento.

Thank you Travelathon!

I'm glad you got a taste of that "homey" feeling. That's what we are all about - your home away from home. The staff we have working for us, have been here for a while. Some of them since we opened in 1992! They take care of this place as if it was their own, and are proud to do so. Next time you visit Sacramento, I hope to see you as our guest once again.

Thank you for those kind words. I will make sure to share your feedback with our staff. We have a very seasoned staff, that takes care of this place as if it was their own home.

We are slated for a renovation starting in December. Due to be complete by the end of March. Maybe next time you come for a visit, you'll have the opportunity to stay in one of our newly remodeled suites.

We visit Sacramento frequently. Until recently we have avoided this hotel, fearing that it would be too noisy given its proximity to I-5. On a recent visit we discovered we were wrong. Many of the apartments are interior units, arranged around several courtyards. We stayed 4 nights and never experienced any noise from neighbors or from the freeway. We stayed in a top-floor, two bedroom unit (free upgrade) that was very spacious, very clean, and reasonably well equipped. The unit had 2 baths, A/C, fan, and fireplace.

Front desk and housekeeping staff were very good.

The location is very good, between downtown and the airport. Freeways (I-5 and I-80) are very close; supermarkets and starbucks are a minute's drive.

Prices are usually very good, except at peak times. Look for a package.

We've already booked our next visit and we're bringing our family.

Thank you Snowmann42. Our two bedroom suites are a little unknown secret, that a lot of people don't know about. Absolutely perfect for families. I have 2 kids myself, and working for Residence Inn - the two bedroom suites have become my personal favorite. The kids can share a bed in one room, and parents in the other. Then hang out in the living room. I am glad you liked it.
