“Great Location in Napa Valley”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

My husband and I stayed at the Harvest Inn for a long weekend in December 2013. We would definitely return to this hotel! It is in a great location in St. Helena and very close to many nice vineyards. They have a good breakfast that is included in your stay. They don't just serve the usual continental breakfast fare either...they have lots of fresh fruit choices, turkey sausage, cooked potatoes and quiche. Yum! My husband and I really liked our room too. It was nice to curl up by the fireplace after a long day of wine tasting and eating good food. The bathroom is extremely spacious with a sunken tub and a very large shower too. Overall, I would say that this hotel exceeded our expectations. The only possible drawback to our stay was that we could hear a little bit of overhead noise from the guests above us.
One additional place I would recommend visiting while you're in St. Helena is the Culinary Institute. It is just minutes from the Harvest Inn and offers a magnificent fine dining experience. The students that study there prepare and serve your food. You get a four course meal for only $39. It is an excellent value for many delicious choices.

I have traveled all over the world and have stayed many nights in several types of hotels (from motels to 5 star properties). I also would like to add that I am a critic when it comes to hotels and have high standards. Based on this, I am shocked by the negative reviews. Many seemed to be due to noise, which I never experienced during my 2 times visiting. I also read some negative comments about the smell of cinnamon and the wood burning fireplaces... which I thought was an asset and adds to the ambiance of the property. Oh well, to each their own, right?

This hotel is romantic, whimsical, and intimate. The location cannot be beat. The bottle of wine in the room you can take with you to the heated pools or hot tub open all year round, the wine and cheese receptions on the weekends, and the wine country style breakfast are great amenities.

Between the smell of the gardens and wood-burning fireplaces, the cozy rooms, and breathtaking views, the place has a feel about it that I have not found anywhere else. You have to experience it to understand just how cool of a place it is. If you are looking for a pretentious, stuffy experience that can be common in 4 or 5 star properties, then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a romantic getaway with friendly staff and an abundance of great spaces and amenities to enjoy... then this is your place!

I would say the biggest downfalls are the lack of gym (they do have 2 treadmills, weights and an elliptical... which is not enough) however runners could enjoy a run near the Inn and pass downtown St. Helena and several local wineries while enjoying great views. Next, the last time we stayed, we noticed some tiles missing from the wall in the bathrooms. For $350+ a night during the off-season, this is not acceptable. Lastly, despite the fact this is my favorite hotel, it is a bit pricey and really a splurge if you get the rooms with wood burning fireplaces and views. So if you are looking for a value, I would look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room with a wood burning fireplace. Worth the extra money if you are going to stay...

Outstanding experience: the service, the huge room with the vineyard view, the hearty breakfast and a special mention to Lisa the concierge who did everything to find us every bit of pertinent information related to wine tasting and restaurants on Napa valley.

Room Tip: Eventhough more expensive, ask for a room with the vineyard view.

We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and this hotel was recommended by friends who had stayed there. It was a wonderful experience-friendly staff, very clean room, great location for seeing Napa Valley, and a comfortable, quiet venue to enjoy the vineyards and beauty of the area. We highly recommend this lovely inn.

Harvest Inn is perfectly located in central St. Helena. Right next to fantastic wineries like Praeger's ports, Meryvale and Louis Martini, etc. and restaurants - Gott's Roadside, Press and Tra Vigne, etc. They offer complimentary breakfast with a couple of hot options which is decent and does the job. The rooms are rustic and cozy with great big fireplaces. On Friday and Saturday nights they have a free wine and cheese tasting for guests. There are a few heated pools and jacuzzis.

The downside is there is no room service. The place definitely has a rustic feel so if you need modern this is not the place for you, but it's very well kept and feels like the perfect vineyard spot. I'd stay here over the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur which claims to be rustic, but feels more like it needs a huge facelift and is three times the price.

As you already know, downtown St. Helena is just a few minutes walk from your room where you can dine, shop, and taste many of the best wines in the Napa Valley!! We also love that you found our spacious and cozy rooms to your liking as well. There is nothing like curling up next to our large fireplaces with a glass of wine on the cold Winter nights.

We decided to take a trip to the wine country for a few nights for a short vacation. We made reservations at Harvest Inn the day before leaving and everything went perfectly. We had a Fountain room with a fireplace and patio. The room was clean, the view of the pool was quite nice and the parking was plentiful. We arrived early and were able to check in early which was much appreciated. When we got to our room there was a bottle of local cabernet sauvignon to greet us. The room was quite large and had a real wood burning fireplace. The bathroom had a walk in shower that fits two as well as a tub. The quality of the materials was tops. The room also had a refrigerator which was very handy to keep some white wines and cheeses chilled. There is nothing quite like sitting around a wood fire on a cold night while sipping great local wines and snacking on cheese and bread.

The staff is friendly and welcoming, the grounds are clean and attractive and the location is central to a host of attractions. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of fruits, cereals, breads, meats and juices. Our family has a very diverse range of breakfast likes, and we were all quite happy. We could not have asked for a better stay. We will certainly be returning for another visit.

This past week was our first trip to Napa; my wife and I were celebrating 35 years of marraige . We had the great fortune of staying at the Harvest Inn in St. Helena, CA. The location is a great base of opperations to see the Napa Valley. Our cottage was devine; the back porch overlooked the vineyards and the beautiful mountains in the back drop. Our room had a fire place which kept things very comfortable and cozy. Our package included a wonderful breakfast buffet each morning. The town of St. Helena is very charming and the people are very friendly. Whether you are honeymooning, celebrating a significant milestone or traveling with family, I would highly recommend the Harvest Inn.

Room Tip: We and our friends were in suites 301 and 302 facing the vineyards and mountains.
