“The Inn At Southbridge was the best ever!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Inn At Southbridge and we loved it from the minute we arrived to the minute we left!!! The staff was amazing, the location couldn’t have been more perfect, the rooms were incredible with a huge cozy bed and a romantic fireplace. We loved the balcony that looked onto the beautiful green courtyard. We felt so relaxed our entire stay. The continental breakfast was like no other continental breakfast I've ever had - there was lots of fresh fruit with incredible baked goods. The Inn was very accommodating in every way. We throughly enjoyed the spa and pool which was 10 feet across the courtyard from our hotel. The staff at the spa was amazing and the pool was beautiful! We'll be back in the near future!!

This boutique Hotel is a sister property to Meadowood, without the high price. It is walking distance to one of the best restaurants in the Valley-Tra Vigne. Also, a walk across the plaza to Merryvale Vineyards. With only 24 guestrooms, they are very attentive to your needs. Guestrooms are spacious and most have fireplaces and decks or patios. They include a lovely continental breakfast, newpaper, robes, etc. Great for a romantic getaway, a small corporate retreat or girls week-end, since the spa is next door. A 2 block walk to St. Helena with all it has to offer. Refrigerator, coffee maker, wine (for purchase), snacks, all in room.

Room Tip: Courtyard side guestrooms have a better view and are quieter.

We were there two nights. I would not change a thing. The room was always clean and comfortable. We slept 11 hours on the comfortable bed. We will definetly return. Beautiful place!! This Inn was walking distance from downtown - reminded us of being in a European Inn. Amazing!!

Room Tip: We stayed in a lovely large room upstairs.

The hotel has only 21 rooms, all on the second floor of what looks like a converted office bullding. The entrance is at the opposite end of the building that you would expect. You have to drive through the parking lot and then notice the awning, which is on the end of the building on the first floor. The lobby has no space to speak of--no chairs to relax in or coffee tables, and no bathroom. There is no restaurant or bar. There is no help to bring your suitcases inside. You have to grab a cart and wheel it out to your car. You use the one elevator to take the cart to the second floor and wheel it down the hall. The hall is spare, and smelled a lot like fresh paint when we were there. The room was the best part- very large with a vaulted ceiling and a fireplace. The bathroom was ok---nothing to write home about, but serviceable. It had a skylight, which is nice. There was a refrigerator-mini bar. There is a very small balcony overlooking another nearby building and a courtyard, and beyond you can see cars on the highway constantly and trains going by occasionally about 150 ft away The room cleaners had a lot of used towels and other materials in the hallway--I expect a neater cart than that. The TV was ok, but on the small side, and not flat screen. Another good thing was the free breakfast. This was acutally pretty good, with cereal, pastries, fruit, coffee, and orange juice. You also get free wine tasting at the very nearby Merryvale winery. We didn't use that so can't report on that experience. Overall, it was clean and neat and well located but not 4 star.

This is a perfect example of reality not quite living up to hype. The hotel is very nice and located in a beautiful part of California's Napa Valley. The main street is a short walk / drive away and there is an abundance of great restaurants and quaint shops. Moreover, the Culinary Institute of America along with some of the best vineyards are within easy reach. However, the hotel is listed on the Small Luxury Hotels of the World website and so my partner and I were expecting something far more luxuries, far more impressive, and set in a much better environment. This trip was arranged to coincide with my partner's birthday and so I wanted something truly memorable. As a consequence we felt slightly misled and let down by the actual property. Had our expectations been different the actual experience would have been far better. For those looking for convenience and comfort this is the place. For those looking for something truly special I would encourage a wider search.

Booked this hotel because it was listed as a Small Leading Hotel of the World, but it felt more like an upscale Marriott. Our expectations were probably a little high, which is why we didn't react that well to the hotel. The room was alright, and the highlight was the wood-burning fireplace in the room. When we return to Napa, we will most likely stay elsewhere. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable, but probably not worth the money.

Napa area hotels are generally overpriced, but for $550 per night, I didn't expect to have to take my luggage by myself to and from my room -- especially in the pouring rain. The room was fine. We were quite disappointed and will not return.
