“Victorian Charm in the heart of Napa Valley”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Over April 3-4th weekend, my husband and I spent two nights at this most charming Victorian Bed & Breakfast. After a terrific phone conversation with John, I was hoping to meet him. He was at the Saturday breakfast and wife Hope at Sunday's. The hospitality, maps and information given to us made our trip a memorable event. John suggested the fabulous off-the-beaten-path backroads itinerary for photography. As professional shooters, we wish to thank him :)

John and Hope were gracious professionals. The guests were a wonderful collection of folks -- we greatly enjoyed sharing a meal and travel conversations. As previously noted in reviews, the European-style breakfasts were off the charts beyond expectations. The warmth, cleanliness and hospitality will transport visitors to another time. Do treat yourself and visit. The Rose Room was our favorite... we'll be back... annually.

Room Tip: The Rose Room was our favorite, but each room viewed was charming.

Thanks for making my morning! Swapping stories with guests is our favorite part of the job, so we can't tell you how much we enjoyed meeting with you over breakfast. I'm glad you had the chance to take pictures of our beautiful backroads areas -- bring your shots with you during your next visit! I look forward to taking a look at them.

Sincerely,
John R., Owner

A really fine little B&B tucked away between Yountville and St Helena in the Napa Wine region. An outstanding breakfast prepared and served to gourmet standards. In the evening, wine and cheese are provided on a delightful outdoor patio where we met a really fun European couple and had pleasant converstation over wine and cheese. Very clean and inviting. John and Hope, proprietors, have been in the business for many years and their attention to detail shows! We highly recommend...

Room Tip: We were in the Rose room... very quite and delightful 'old country' feel with private bathro...

This was a cute and quite place, surrounded by trees and just the perfect amount of sunlight. It was easily accessible to everything in town. The bed were comfortable, the rooms were nicely heated and very clean. Also the food was AMAZING!!! You can tell the owners pay attention to every little detail. We will be back, I'm sure of it!

Oh God. We are extremely disappointed with this BB. My Fiance took me to our second trip to Sonoma, Napa, St. Helena. I was in charged of a romantic BB selection. He wanted a special place. I did spend a few hours reading reviews, searching maps and based on the reviews, I choose the Sandy Oaks. I even spoke with the owner. Really? She never showed up to to great us as she told me. Most of the comments mentioned the owners hospitality, we never saw them in premises. The comments talks about how special this place is, maybe was 70 years ago. The rooms are OLD, but OLD fashioned, the carpet needs URGENT replacement. Everything is 'military' scheduled. If you are not at the breakfast table at 9:00am, you will miss it. I think we missed understood the menu, but my fiance was expecting eggs benedict, his favorite breakfast. Instead we got sausage and french toast. (I am vegetarian, didn't have a choice!!!)
The worse, the pictures in their website are misleading. Not from their premises.
We are frequent travelers, a semi retired couple in our early 40's, not a place for us.
This place is worth $89.00, we paid almost $250.00! - unbelievable!
Again, if you are a yuppy or an established professional, this is not a place for you.
Keila

After 30 years as an innkeeper I am still amazed sometimes. Our staff reads all our reviews. They work so hard to make sure that everything is just right. So I want to say to Hope, Lilia and Patricia I know this one bothers you. Read all the other ones around this and you will really know how our guests ( and we) feel about you and your hard work.

Very quaint and quiet. Wonderful service. Would definitely stay again! The area was beautiful. I enjoyed the champagne breakfast with fresh fruit, fresh croissants and eggs benedict. If you are looking for a get away near wine country, this is a great choice!

We were back for a second time, and were not disappointed. The Inn is charming, and we love the Winery Retreat room. We love the single seating breakfast where you have a chance to see where everyone has been, and get recommendations to plan your day. The owner is usually on-site to help with reservations or whatever else you need. The pricing is consistent with other accommodations in Napa Valley, which are generally high.

Room Tip: The Winery Retreat is our favorite - it feels very "old world"
