Owner description: Guests who visit Spring Mountain Vineyard will experience its artisan wines in settings of breathtaking beauty that reflect the history and ambience of a vineyard estate established in the 1880s. Its hillside terraces, historic caves and heirloom gardens still evoke an era when daily life was slow and tied to the land. SMV is family-owned, sustainably farmed and exclusively producing wines from its own vineyards on Spring Mountain in Napa Valley. Hallmarks of its wines are concentrated color and flavor, distinctive varietal intensity, supple tannins, bright acidity and longevity. Its signature wine is Elivette, a Bordeaux-style wine carefully blended for structure, elegance and aging potential. Four tastings are offered, each with different selections of wines, to give guests the option to choose the experience which best suits their interests. • the Tasting Only, a standing tasting featuring current releases (45- 60 minutes)• the Estate Tasting, a seated experience featuring current releases and one library/rare wine selection of Elivette, our signature Bordeaux-style blend (90 minutes)• the Library Vertical Tasting, a seated tasting featuring a vertical selection of Cabernet (90 minutes)• the Explore Elivette Tasting, our most exclusive tasting, featuring five vintages of Elivette (90 minutes)Tastings other than the Tasting Only are held in our historic wine caves, in garden settings or in the historic chandeliered Villa Miravalle (subject to availability) and include an informative, guided walk around the estate. Visits are by advance reservation only. Please also note that due to legal restrictions and for the safety and enjoyment of all guests, we request that all members of the party be at least 21 and we are not accompanied by pets.

When you arrive there is a gated entrance where you buzz in to enter. Once you enter you walk through an adorable greenhouse, garden, vineyards up to a little cottage. You check in here and are immediately handed a glass of wine to sip on while you wait and wander the garden. Tasting starts outside overlooking the vineyard and continues on a walking tour into the cave where they store their barrels. We tasted 3 reds, a cab, merlot, and pinot -- all excellent but also pricey for us so we didn't purchase. Very informative and fun tour, beautiful scenery.

I recommend going.
All in all takes 1.5 hours. Need an appointment.

Signed up for the Vertical Library tasting tour, which started in the garden with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, then moved into the main house, first floor dining room for an hour of tasting cabernets from 1987 - 2009. This was a great experience, interesting to taste the cabs from various years and directly experience environmental effects on each vintage. Host was knowledgeable and engaging

We had an amazing personal wine tasting and tour at Spring Mountain Winery. The grounds are beautifully maintained with gorgeous views of the mountain side vineyard. Our wine educator and guide was Patrick and he was informative, knowledgeable, and very fun. Our tasting was personal and intimate, and we tasted some amazing wines including a Sauvignon Blanc, several Cabernet Sauvignons, and an amazing Bordeaux blend called Elivette. We purchased several bottles and joined the wine club! What a beautiful location, with a personal experience, and great wines. We are looking forward to enjoying the wines from Spring Mountain!

Celebrating our 15th anniversary was made even more enjoyable with a visit to Spring Mountain Winery. After saying he wouldn't join any wine club...my husband did join this one. We look forward to each shipment. The grounds are beautiful. We had a picture taken there printed on canvas and framed-and we love it! We hope to get back to the Napa area and will visit there again. Patrick made the wine tasting experience great fun too.
