Saw Lauren at the tasting, not crowded at all..she made the experience very pleasant. Be sure to ask for her.
The wines are pricy but excellent, one of the best wines on the trip so far... There is a barrel room that is adjacent to the tasting room that is WAY COOL, a massive photo opp..
Bottom line you MUST go if in Napa, but ask for Lauren, one of the nicest folks we've met so far... Yes, it does make a difference.

“Loud & crowded.”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

I think their wines were good; but it's overshadowed by the crowded tasting room. Yes, they're open late. Yes, we went there towards the end of the day (4:00). We would like to go back first thing in the morning & try again!

“The Best In St. Helena”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

We used the cask room at Merryvale for our Reception Dinner, catered by Tra Vigne restaurant. We made several visits to Napa Valley to find the perfect venue for this wedding and once we met with Kelly Craig at Merryvale, we knew there was no reason to look further. When it came to wine tasting, Merryvale was unlike any other vineyard we visited. Some places had all the appeal of sports bar, others had the kind of staff who were excellent at avoiding eye contact. At Merryvale, we felt like they were happy to see us and hoped we'd come back again.

When Kelly showed us the "Cask Room" which was lined with two stories of historic 2,000 gallon casks with great stone walls and heavy timber beams, we knew this was it. Just viewing this room is a treat and to have dinner there for our reception was amazing. Everyone loved it and the staff was super attentive, (special thanks Anna for the Silhouette). No one wanted to leave.

Merryvale makes some superior wines too. Being summertime, I like to stay with Chardonnay and the Merryvale Silhouette is probably the best I've tasted. Their Pinot Noir and Merlot are excellent as is their Cab but if you really want a treat, check out the Profile which is a blend they make only at Merryvale. The staff behind the counter are all friendly and well versed in the various wines and I can't say enough about how head and shoulders above the rest of the winery's the experience at Merryvale was.

“Poor experience”
Reviewed 15 June 2013 via mobile

After visiting tasting rooms in Carmel and around St. Helena we were disappointed in our experience at Merryvale. One of the other tasting rooms recommended that we go there. When we arrived they were busy which is fine, but no one acknowledged our existence even though we tried to make eye contact. Eventually someone noticed us but then passed us off to someone else. The gentleman who have the tasting was nice enough but the experience was already ruined. A party of 10 came in and the basically pushed us over in to a corner at the bar so we just hurried up and left. The cask room is beautiful but as a customer I didn't feel very valued and so I probably won't go back.

“Incredible tour, wonderful wine and cheese. Best tasting in Napa Valley.”
Reviewed 13 June 2013

We had an incredible tour and wine tasting at Merryvale. The staff was extremely friendly, and the wines were the best we had tasted all week.

The tasting was held inside an enormous converted wine cask, with a beautiful table, lighting, and 5 great cheeses and salami. Our guide was personable, but left us alone to have private conversations. This made for a wonderful experience - easily our favorite tour in Napa - and that includes a fabulous tour at Far Niente.

Very, very highly rated.
