Owner description: Heibel Ranch Vineyards is unlike any other experience that the Napa Valley can offer. Proprietor greets you in "Sugar Magnolia" (a 1963 Willys jeep) and provides a guided tour of historic Aetna Springs Resort, his family's CCOF certified organic vineyard, and 186 acre ranch. Be sure to bring your camera and get ready to enjoy the Napa Valley as it was decades ago!

Definitely a stand-out of our recent visit to the Napa area. Glad we allowed extra time for the trip over Howell Mountain to Pope valley - the roads are very twisty buy the scenery is fantastic. There are not many vineyards where the owner/winemaker takes the morning to show you around and give you a personal tour, including tasting some excellent wine (with generous pours) and sharing some cheese and nibbles. We met Trent at the Aetna resort and got a history lesson on the place which was also interesting. We then followed Trent on his ATV (with Chiachi lolloping along besides with a large stick) to the vineyard - an amazing setting. We travelled by jeep to the picnic area for the tasting. Part of me says shush!!! don't tell anyone - this is a unique experience! But Trent deserves the success of his work, he obviously embraces the stewardship of the land - please go see him and enjoy a rare Napa treat (and buy some great wine).

Wish it was easier to ship to Canada!

Leaving Napa Valley and heading over to Pope Valley was like a trek back in time. We hopped into Trent's 4Runner, with his dog in the back and headed up the trail. He first drove us through the ruins of an old golf club compound with ties back Ronald Reagan and famous actors of the early days of Hollywood. We then made our way up to the "current" tasting room, that changes quite regularly, depending on the weather. There had been some recent rain, son instead of tasting at the picnic table under the oaks, we experienced Heibel's recent vintages in a Vintage memorabilia Man Cave! Pope Valley has 2 abandoned mercury mines near the Heibel Ranch, which apparently was quite a big deal years ago. A close friend of Trent's has outfitted a cabin floor to ceiling with relics of this bygone age. From the weathered machine relics in the front yard, to old maps and tools inside, there was history all around us. It was very cool. Trent disappeared around into a back room and came back with several bottles, some cheeses, olives, and meats for the pairing. He gave generous pours and told stories about his familly's long history in the valley and how he was finally able to convince them to plant a vineyard only about 5 or 6 years ago. He was very down to earth and super laid back. I think the best part was when he kicked on his playlist and we found ourselves sipping Cab to Thrift Shop (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis)! This place is a must and we will certainly return.

A MUST experience!!! My groups favorite winery of our entire trip (we visited 7 vineyards).

I came across this vineyard just from researching on the internet.
It's small and you don't even get to visit the vineyard...BUT don't let that scare you away!
Also, it's further out than most vineyards (about an hour away from downtown Napa) and while driving, you will probably think you're lost.

It was just an intimate and lovely experience. Loved everything about it. The family history, the time spent, the conversation, the tour of Aetna Springs Resort, Chachi (the dog), the wine (of course), the cheese, etc. So glad I persuaded my group of 4 to come here.
I was a little sad I didn't get to ride the old style military jeep that everyone talks about, but it didn't take away from the experience (it probably would have added though...).
The pairing of the wine and cheese/charcuterie is excellent. It was our first visit of the day, so turned out to be a great breakfast.
We even joined the wine club! Their GBH Cab Sav...mMm!

Add this one to the top of your list! I read the review posted that outlines the tour, so I will not repeat those details. But, it was great and the highlight of our trip. We toured/tasted four wineries and this one was our favorite for sure. The unique experience is very much worth it. I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone touring Napa. We ordered and shipped back plenty as well. Trent is a great guy and his wine is great as well!!

We wanted to do something different to celebrate our anniversary trip to Napa and Trent’s tour was just the thing we were looking for - something unique and off the beaten path. After meeting him at the appointed place, we were treated to a down-to-earth tour without any pretention but with relaxed style. Trent and his four-legged mascot, Chachi, (who runs tirelessly alongside the Jeep during the ride) are the tour guides. The property is located on the back side of Howell Mountain and has been in the family for several generations. The jeep is a rustic model from the 60’s that was passed down from his grandfather and it allows for an up close view of the beautiful land. After the 4-wheel drive tour, you are treated to an open air wine tasting on a picnic bench overlooking the natural spring. The tasting is first class with endless pours and top-notch local cheeses which pair beautifully with HRV wines. It’s a chance to chat with Trent and learn more about his passion to create the best wines possible while sustaining the land. Don’t miss the opportunity to become a member of the wine club and enjoy the wonderful wines that this up-and-coming wine maker has to offer. This was the highlight of our trip and we feel lucky to have experienced Napa in such an intimate way.
