Stayed here several times last summer and loved the place. Definitely not a bed and breakfast place and I don't think they advertise it that way. If you are looking for brand new / newly remodeled rooms, spacious, great bathrooms, new furniture,etc...right on the strip in St Helena..then I just don't think you can beat this place.

I try to book a room here every time I am in NoCal....great to be able to walk to dinner/movie/bars...

Stayed: June 2012, travelled on business

Dear Peter C,

Your review is very much appreciated. We’re so pleased to have you as a repeat guest. All rooms do include Keurig coffeemakers, as well as, complimentary coupons each day of your stay to the Napa Valley Coffee Roasting Company good for a cup of their delicious coffee or can be used towards any of their wonderful pastries.

We look forward to your return visit!

All the best,

Carole

This hotel is located in the small Napa Valley town of St. Helena, right on the Main St. You wonder what this building was before the remodel, as it appears to have been an old building that had high ceilings. In any event, it was quite tastefully done, with large bedrooms and bathrooms, coffee in the room, along with a complimentary bottle of wine, a gift certificate to a coffee place, spa passes for a property down the road maybe one-half mile. We enjoyed this location with parking that allowed us to walk the streets of this small town. You might request a room off Main St. though it was not overly noisy.

Room Tip: Ask to be off Main Street

Dear Jean G,

Thank you for your review. We strive to offer each of our guests a wonderful experience. We hope to have the pleasure to do so again should you return to St. Helena. Our building was constructed in 1886 with the first floor being used for retail space and the second floor used for residential apartments. While retaining the historic charm, the interior of the hotel underwent a complete renovation inside to make way for our current contemporary luxury setting.

Regards,

Carole

Okay... to expound on my rhyming title: this hotel is elegantly simple -- no need for flash for gimmicks. The lobby and check-in area are well-layed out. The staff is helpful and kind, striking just the right amount of friendliness (they make sure you're receiving the care you require, but they're not obsequious about it). There's an area in the lobby for sitting with friends and watching a large screen tv. Nearby there are tea and hot water available. All of the guest rooms are upstairs. They're well-appointed, clean and organized in an appealing way. Ours had an armoire, desk and a dresser with a flat-screen tv and lots of light. We enjoyed our stay: we utilized the day passes to the Health Spa Napa Valley, walked around downtown St. Helena (all of it is within blocks) and enjoyed dinner a block from the Wydown.

The only thing I'd point out is that the hotel is on the St. Helena Highway -- the only highway going through the area. So, if you're a light sleeper, one of the rooms on the front side of the building might not be for you. The owners have done a good job of sound-proofing, but almost every morning brings a stampede of construction trucks, 18 wheelers and the like -- it's just part of life and it's impossible to completely kill the noise of passing heavy trucks.

I'd happily recommend this cute, charming hotel to any of my friends.

Dear cyberdouglas,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We appreciate you offering such a detailed review of your visit. You very eloquently captured the ambiance we want our guests to experience.

Our downtown location indeed does offer excellent restaurants, boutique shops, art galleries and of course wine tasting, all within a few short blocks. It is our belief the benefit of this convenience offsets the occasional street noise through our charming little township.

We hope your schedule allows for your return in the near future to enjoy another memorable getaway!

Best regards,
Carole

The room was large, clean and comfortable. The location is right on main street and within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and boutiques. There are so many incredible restaurants and cafes within walking distance that we did not miss out on having an on site restaurant. It is a lovely, warm hotel.

I stayed at this hotel in September and absoultely loved it. It was everything we needed for a weekend trip to Napa. The hotel was centrally located to all the wineries in Napa. Everything in the hotel is new and modern and super clean. The rooms were so spacious, even the bathroom! The staff is so friendly. Lisa helped me plan my entire Napa trip. She suggested wineries we should visit, made the appointments for us and even found us a great driver to take us around. The hotel was at capacity that weekend and yet I new saw another patron!!!! The price is right and the next time I am back in the area I will definitely stay at the Wydown.
