“Your home, in the wine country!”
Reviewed 5 June 2013 via mobile

This is my second visit to the Inn, and I'm continuously impressed! Beautiful grounds and landscaping, gorgeous atmosphere and architecture, rooms with fireplaces and balconies overlooking a vineyard. Owner Ortwin Krueger makes you feel welcome like family in impeccably maintained rooms. Delicious fireside breakfasts make you feel as if you are in the French countryside, in the heart of Napa! Downtown Main Street in St. Helena is just a short walk away. It's rare for me to give perfect scores out, but the Vineyard Country Inn deserves it!!

I just got back from staying at the Vineyard Country Inn. The staff is all very charming and nice. The room was a nice size with a separate living area. They give you free bottle water each day along with a nice continental style breakfast. My room was closest to the road and I had no trouble with noise like others who wrote reviews here. The location is very close and within walking distance to some great restaurants and lovely vineyards. In fact, my room was just steps from grapevines. Loved it and will definitely stay there again!

Four couples stayed at Vineyard Country Inn for a weekend trip from San Diego, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Although a bit dated, the rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. The ony negative was the fact that the jacuzzi was out of order the weekend we statyed there, but that's a fairly minor detail. The Inn is exclusivlely suites (21 in all), and each has a small sitting room with a (real) fireplace, couch, small table and chairs. The beds are comfortable, although the pillows were a bit thin. The only other negative comment we had was that the air conditioner needed to work very hard to keep our second floor room cool, but in the evenings we just opened the bedroom balcony doors and the front door to the suite and a nice breeze quickly cooled things down. St. Helena is about a half-mile up the road, and several wineries are within walking distance.

Room Tip: Road noise (CA 29 fronts the property) can be intrusive, so ask for a unit towards the rear of the p...

Every time we consider trying another accommodation in the wine country, we always end up saying "why mess with what we love?" Is it the Ritz? No, thank goodness! Could we get a better deal elsewhere? I don't believe so! Have we ever been disappointed? Absolutely not! This is a small hotel/inn. The rooms are clean, comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast is perfect for starting off a day of wine tasting. We've been coming here for 7 years, we don't plan on changing our routine. Thank you Ortwin, and staff!!

Room Tip: Some road work taking place on the main highway...the Innkeeper has no control over that. Request a...

We went to St. Helena for a friends birthday and stayed at Vineyard Country Inn. The room was large with a balcony and a fireplace and the view was awesome, The residence was clean and and quiet, The continental breakfast had a variety of breads, cakes, fruits and beverages. The Inn was both quaint and comfy. We loved it.

While in St. Helena our car broke down. The manager and the employees there were so helpful and caring that we almost forgot that we didn't have a car. They gave us a ride to a local restaurant. They also helps us by extending our stay while the car was being towed. They really made us feel special. The place was great but the manager and staff made our stay wonderful.

Room Tip: Ask about the view from the room that you are in. Some have a balcony with view of the vineyards...

We booked at the last minute so we were a little scared of what we might find. However, we were more than pleasantly surprised! Our room was more like a cottage than an inn with its own front door and walk way. A separate sitting area with fireplace (with log and matches) was waiting for us. There’s nothing like a warm fire on a cool November night.

And what a surprise we had when we woke up after arriving late. Our room looked right out onto a large vineyard, literally two steps from our outside sitting area. Enchanting!

Priced very fairly and conveniently located only a few blocks from St. Helena’s main street and in the center of wine country, we recommend the Vineyard Country Inn for a great romantic night or a few days.

Room Tip: Try to book a room closer to the office than the road to reduce night time noise.
