“Great Small Winery in Napa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

Recommended by locals and it did not disappoint. Try the 2001 Cab, it's one of the best you will ever try! Pricey, but worth every penny and ounce. One of the few wineries in Napa that still offer N/C tasting. Based on their wine, you will not walk out empty handed.

“Huge Fan but Unimpressed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013 via mobile

I've been a huge fan of the Heitz brand for years, but was a bit disappointed with my recent winery visit. Although it wasn't terribly busy that day, and we "walked in", the staff wasn't very engaging or friendly. The wines were great and the outdoor area very comfortable. Next visit will be a pre-arranged private tasting.

“Authentic and unpretentious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 November 2013

We were pleasantly surprised to walk into this winery and feel completely comfortable and welcomed. I can't recall the name of our server, but he was very knowledgable and poured us free tastings - including one from a $200 bottle of Martha's Vineyard. I still dream of that tasting. I am familiar with Heitz, but thought it would be another castle of a winery, and was happy to enjoy the low key, yet charming tasting room.

“A very positive exception from the other Napa wineries”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013

Fitst let it be known that I am a big fan og Heitz wines.

Arrived just after they opened on a Saturday morning. We tasted several of the wines - no tasting fee!

Another outstaniding feature is that they also offer older vintages of their top wines, whick is very rareat the other wineries that only have the latest vintage for sale.

Ended up nuying a selectiion of Trailside from 2001-07. Fantastic people and you do not feel as just being a money maker as in most of the other wineries.

“Great scenery and great wine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

First of all, this is a no-reservations, free tasting spot in the middle of St Helena. That alone should make it a must-visit.

On top of that, the wine there is amazing. In my opinion, Heitz makes great Cabernets and Zinfandels and have a good variety of price points for interested parties.

If you make some moves to purchase a few bottles, you may even be able to entice the servers to let you try some of the more reserved wines underneath the counter. The team there is very friendly and gave us some great recommendations based on what we liked (and did not steer us towards the more expensive options).
