I've lived in salinas for 30 years, and Toro place cafe is just a classic around here. It's so peaceful , country folk kind of setting, without being old fashioned. Very nice setting, you can even eat outside in the back, with the sound of water in the background. ( from a water feature). Everything we've ever ordered is GREAT ! I love salad, and their salads are not basic iceberg lettuce, but wonderful greens from salinas valley ! I will continue to go here whenever I can. Serves breakfast and lunch, and both are wonderful !.

While on the way over to Laguna Seca for the Sea Otter Classic, I stopped in at the Toro for breakfast. This is a fun local hangout, obvious by each customer that enter, for the most part, was called by name and escorted to the usual seat.
The found was typical breakfast food, well prepared and just the right size.
Atmosphere is comfortable and well kept, including the fake Toro above the fireplace.
If you're in the area, Toro Place Cafe is a great option for breakfast, they're also opened for lunch.

All by itself on Highway 68 as you approach Toro Park and Salinas, CA, the Toro Park Café has food far better than you'd expect from a roadside diner. Judy and I have been there twice, with good results both times. Their chili is spicy and flavorful, bread is super fresh (making an ordinary egg salad sandwich seem special), and fresh-baked pineapple upside down cake awaits you if you still have room. Service is friendly, and you can dine outside in the sunshine ifr you're so inclined. Prices are quite reasonable, too.

We have stopped here a couple of times when attending the motorcycle races at Laguna Seca racetrack. No lines, good food, and service, decent prices.

This restaurant has been at the top of my favorites list for MANY years. It has all the tools, good food, great service, superior ambiance, reasonable prices and great location. They must treat their employees well, as they have had the same crew for many years and they are high quality. This place is a must, when visiting Monterey County. Perfect for early breakfast to prepare for the drive to Big Sur or just a Point Lobos experience.
