We loved this place. Lots of old world charm, Karen and Bill make fantastic hosts who work hard to make sure that all guests have a memorable stay. We slept well in themed safari room. Breakfast was scrumptious, perfect, even with me being a celiac, Karen made sure that I had gluten free food . The house and gardens are beautiful. Rooms and ample towels very clean and the place is in the best location to explore nearby gold towns. We will definitely stay there again when we come over from Australia. Thanks Karen & Bill for our stay. We think this gorgeous guesthouse we chose to stay at is none of the best in California, if not the USA .

Room Tip: All rooms are quirky, comfortable and clean, all are unique. We stayed in safari as it had access to...

Like every other guest we've had from "Down-Under" you folks were a pleasure to have as guests. And finding non-gluten alternatives to our regular fare isn't a chore when it's done for serious health issues rather than a fad diet. Please send more Aussies our way.

My wife and I stayed two nights with Karen and Bill after reading about Robin's Nest on TripAdvisor. All the reviews about the amazing breakfasts and the wonderful owners were correct.. this is a fantastic place to stay!

Karen and Bill were "better than family" as they talked with us, shared fruit from their trees, and made us breakfast. We truly felt as if we were staying with an Aunt and Uncle and not at all like we were staying at an inn.

Their location is perfect for exploring the nearby Gold Rush area of Murphy's, Angel Camp, and more. They were super accommodating and entertaining to chat with. The breakfast they make each morning was made with love and we enjoyed learning the history of their home. We toured the facility and all the rooms looked very nice and very different. You will be happy in any of them.

The challenge such a wonderful review poses is having to live up to such a high standard. Seriously though, it's never difficult providing great service to appreciative guests. Thank you!

Loved this place. It has personality, easy access, great breakfast and be sure to explore the very surprisingly wonderful historic museum downtown. Proprietors Bill and Karen are happy to tell you all about life in San Andreas and the region. Explore the property - every room is different. We were there on a very hot day and were very comfortable.
Check out the lawn, outdoor kitchen and deck - nice for families or group celebrations.
There's a Wells Fargo in town and a great Thai restaurant that is worth the journey to Valley Springs.

Room Tip: Talk about your personal needs with the proprietors and they'll match you with the right room.

We arrived in San Andreas and used Tripadviser to find the nearest hotels - absolutely brilliant tool and one we used a great deal on our recent trip to the states.

There isn't a great deal of choice but the few reviews on Tripadviser for The Robins Nest were all positive and it looked interesting.

If you are looking for a typical b&b or motel room then you will be able to find things to criticise and you will be better suited elsewhere. However if you want a comfortable bed in somewhere that is 'different' and interesting, with great hosts and fantastic breakfast then this is THE place to stay.

The house is old and charming and has been furnished to reflect earlier days. We were shown a number of different themed rooms to choose from, including the original master bedroom that has a shower that looks as old as the house and a huge bed with steps to allow you to get into it. Most rooms have their own bathroom. Our room and bed were very comfortable.

There are plenty of facilities that we didn't have time to use including a barbeque area and either outdoor or indoor films on a large screen. We did make use of the free port and sherry!

As previous reviewers have said the breakfasts are superb. They change every day but we had mango and strawberries to start, banana and strawberry soup and a cooked dish to end. We weren't to sure of what we would make of the fruit soup but it was gorgeous. In fact this was the best beakfast that we have ever had in the states and possibly the best breakfast we have ever had. What was great was that we didn't feel bloated or full afterwards which we do with some many US breakfasts.

The hosts are great.

There is not a lot of choice in San Andreas for dinner. We were there on a Sunday and it may be easier to eat locally on other nights. We went into Angeks Camp for dinner which isn't too far a drive.

Room Tip: The room we had was next to the area where breakfasts are served and where a film was shown the nigh...

Thank you so much for your positive review. We're glad to hear you not only enjoyed our breakfast but even though we serve several courses, they didn't over-fill you. Unfortunately your speculation about in-town dining is generous to say the least. We have a fabulous Deli called the Pickle-Patch but it is only open midweek and only for lunch. Otherwise you're limited to 2 diners, Pizza and Chinese food. Fortunately we have good restaurants 15 minutes away in Valley Springs or Angels Camp.

We found this on the Internet, lucky us. This is a wonderfully redressed Victorian. Warm, modern heating, but a lot of its old charm. A Beautiful Bed and Breakfeast. The Rooms have their own bathrooms and each its own amenities. The hosts are very informative and gracious. San Andreas is central to many local attractions... Hwy 49 and its nearby towns like Angels Camp, Jackson... several Caverns... Wineries... the BIG Trees (Wow)... Murphys, and on...
But, what seals the deal, is the Breakfeasts. Each morning unique and tailored to your diet. I would encourage you to communicate with Bill and let him know your dietary needs and I'll just say... we did not leave dissappointed, or on an empty stomach. Tripple yum. This is no coffee and muffins continental breakfeast. It would not hurt to call and talk about rooms and breakfeast with Karen or Bill... But, if you're looking for an easy to find, charming, warm Bed and Breakfeast... With a fantastic breakfeast.. Then this is it.

Room Tip: Speak with Bill or Karen directly.

Thank you Tina and Stuart for the glowing review. And yes, we get the hint that we should reclassify ourselves as a Bed and BreakFEAST. Now all we have to do is live up to the incredibly high standard you have set for us. Look forward to a return visit from you in hopefully not too distant future. Karen & Bill

There are only about 3 places to stay in San Andreas so it is quite fortunate that one of them is of excellent quality. The rooms at the Robin's Nest are clean and well maintained. Unlike many other B&B each room has a private bath which is key. So, this place is more like an inn. The grounds are nicely kept and the owner very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast great and one of the best I have had. They started out with fresh pineapple and strawberry. This was followed by a banana-strawberry soup (kind of like custard). The main dish had scrambled eggs, French toast, and chicken sausage. There was coffee and OJ as well. The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly. If you need a place to stay in San Andreas, this is it.

My husband and I were part of a wedding party that stayed at the Robin's Nest Inn. Bill and Karen provided a fabulous, warm and inviting "home" away from home! Their hospitality and genuine love of what they do is conveyed in the entire experience of the Grand Old Victorian. We stayed in the Mariner Room with a huge claw foot tub and a bed that was so comfortable, we didn't want to get up! The breakfasts were beautiful in presentation and home cooked to perfection. We are looking forward to staying with them again!

Room Tip: All the rooms are so unique, Mariner Room was FAB!
