“Should be Number One if You are with Family”

I have always stayed in airport hotels when I am in San Francisco. Most of the time I stay in Milbrae. When its a family vacation, its a no brainer where I choose to stay...Staybridge San Bruno! The rooms are big, the breakfast is superb, the location is fantastic ( near the Mall and Bart as well as 2 groceries and a Pharmacy), and the staff are polite and helpful. I also have to mention that they have free laundry facilities, a gym, a pool, a basketball court and 2 free computers. You save a lot on food not only because of the kitchen but they have afternoon delights every Tuesdays to Thursdays and the food they serve can be filling that sometimes we don't take supper anymore. The kids simply love staying here.

I love giving 4 day trainings at this hotel. As the trainer, I get a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen, then i go across the street to the grocery store to stock up on goodies for the weekend (would much rather cook up something there than go to restaurants alone on a Friday/Saturday night after teaching all day). The hotel's conference room is on the ground floor, right next to lobby area with a full breakfast served to the guests. The staff, from the manager Lisa as well as the desk personnel and housekeeping are all very helpful, prompt and friendly. About 2 years ago, one of my participants (and a guest at the hotel)in the training I was giving, had gotten a flat tire in the pouring rain. When she called the front desk to request information on where to get some help, they went the extra mile (literally and figuratively) and helped her themselves. It is that kindness and courtesy which is why I return there every 6 months. Thank you Staybridge Suites! Debi Frankle

We stayed for one night at the Staybridge Suites.
The hotel staff was very kind when we requested ground floor room as we had big suitcases. Breakfast provided for free but we did not have time to try as we went out to explore the city v early morning. Parking was free (one of the reason why we chose this hotel). A small kitchenette with complete cooking utensil was also provided. Highly recommended for family with babies / kids. We will definitely stay there again!

We stayed at the Staybridge Suites one night on December 30, 2009. It was a stop on our way to northern California. We were a family with my mother in her late 70's and my 2 teenagers. It was great ! The location is great! It was close to lots of restaurants and shopping and one block from the Bart station. There evening reception and the breakfast
was great. This is the place to stay if you are looking for an extremely economical, well located spot. Staff was very nice.

It was a great place to stay for a family. A suite that gave everyone their privacy. The staff was very friendly. They came out to get us after our late night arrival. We were lost driving to hotel. i think we would still be driving around if it wasn't for them. Look this a hotel for family business travelers , pilots etc. Its not the Ritz , but it will work fine.

We are a family of five and had been looking for a place to stay in the San Francisco area during five nights in July 2009. We chose this hotel for its location (close to highway and SFO airport, walking distance from BART subway, shopping mall and restaurants) and its two-bedroom suites, which turned out to be spacious indeed. The hotels provides excellent value for money; we paid a fraction of what we would have paid in San Francisco city center for comparable services. Complimentary breakfast was excellent on weekdays, the boys especially liked baking their own waffles. During the weekend, staffing was reduced and breakfast was still okay, but there was much less choice than on weekdays. Don't worry about the airport being so close, you can indeed hear planes at daytime but during our stay there was no air traffic nearby the hotel during the night. The hotel is excellent for families who need a home base to explore the San Francisco region.

We stayed 12 nights here. Overall, a very convenient place that started to feel like a real home towards the end. Now that I'm home, I even miss it a bit. But it wasn't necessarily the best hotel experience either. This was my first time staying at a Staybridge and, if they claim to be a high-end extended stay hotel on par with Homewood and Summerfield, I would have to beg to differ.
** One note: A reviewer below said that the suites here are not true suites. That is not true... every unit is a true suite with door separating the living room from bedroom (with exception of a couple of special units).

Good:
* Location is unbeatable -- across the street from a grocery store & Starbucks, 5min walk to Tanforan shopping mall, 8min walk to BART station. Very close to SFO with shuttle service. If you have a car, there's a lot of fine Chinese restaurants down along Camino Real in Millbrae (just 5-10min drive away). And very easy freeway access to either 101 or 280.
* Free everything -- free breakfast, free laundry, free parking, free internet.
* Lots of convenient amenities -- full kitchen, walk-in closet, business center with free use of computer/printer.
* Nice courtyard area with swimming pool and basketball court, and trees and plants.
* The property manager is very nice and accommodating. The maintenance & housekeeping staff are nice and efficient, as well.

Bad:
* The front-desk people were generally not very flexible or accommodating. There was a couple of friendly front desk staff (esp this one night-shift guy who was super-friendly), but others were not that great. Even simple things like asking for toothbrush/toothpaste, the clerk would make you pay for them. Basically, if you have special requests, you'll need to speak to the manager (who btw is very nice). If the manager's not on the property, forget about it. Even if you tell the staff that you'd spoken with the manager in advance and that you have so-and-so agreement, the front desk staff will not believe you.
* All rooms are accessed via exterior corridors. That means a vast majority of units are probably going to be dark and dingy inside, with the only windows being those that face right out to the exterior corridor where other guests constantly walk by. Some people were very nosy and they'd stare right into our room as they walked by. But closing the blind wasn't an option, since the room would then become a cave. Even with the blind open, not much sun would come in, since there's roof hanging over the exterior corridor.
* The room was not as clean and kept-up as other reviewers have commented. There was huge amount of mildew on our bathtub; the maintenance came right away but it took the maintenance guy a good 15-20minutes to dig out all the mildew. Although most things were well-maintained in our room, there was some wear and tear. The carpet wasn't exactly clean either; we walked in our slippers in the room (which is what we do at every hotel), and the soles were completely dirty after a week.
* Staybridge cuts more corners on in-room amenities than do Homewood or Summerfield or even Residence Inn. The bed linens and bath towels were inferior to those other chains'. Staybridge's shampoo is pretty mediocre and they do not even provide conditioners. However, I did like their soap.
* Bathroom is tiny and you have to contort your body to open the door to come out of there.
* The free wireless was spotty, especially at night for some reason. The connection would be pretty good for much of the daytime. Then around 5pm, it starts getting spotty. At nighttime, it was a disaster. I don't know why that was.
