This place is next door to the San Bruno Super 8 motel, a great place to stay when arriving/leaving SFO. We were hungry and tired and it was Mother's Day, so service was a little slow, perhaps because there were lots of big families enjoying meals with moms. The salsa was great--chipotle and cilantro both could be detected in a hot but not painful salsa served with fresh tortilla chips. Our chicken enchiladas were very good--typical presentation, and 2 for $15 with rice and beans. The place specializes in ceviche, but we were not feeling adventurous, and were pleased with our "down home" dinner.

We ate here three times on our recent California holiday. Every meal was exceptional, especially the crab enchiladas and the carnitas. We eat frequently at Mexican restaurants. Don Pico's ranks with the best

The staff must have paid attention to recent reviews as our service was great from three different servers. One waitress even remembered us and talked to us on the street outside the restaurant. Another waitress recognized us when we stopped in for a beer and gave us "happy hour" prices even though it wasn't during the stated hours.

Our experience at Don Pico's was perfect with great food in a comfortable environment.

We started going to Don Pico's for the Sunday Brunch, and have returned for dinner several times. My daughter and I both love the "Lucy's favorite burrito" with cripsy chorizo and two eggs over easy. My wife loves the Huevos Rancheros for breakfast, and the carnitas are great for a dinner meal. Bring an appetite, the servings are generous, and they have the only refried beans that I my whole family likes enough to clean up every bit.

Sometimes it is very hard to find an authentic Mexican restaurants, and Don Pico's is an exception to that. Don Pico's menu either had items, or the way they prepare their food, that one just doesn't generally find at Americanized Mexican restaurants. Case in point, the pork carnitas here was well prepared and served correctly ... not douse in some kind sauce or boiled to death.

The service was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. I would have given the the fifth bullet it they served homemade tortillas.

We found this restaurant only because we were staying at a nearby hotel and were simply looking for a place to get dinner. Boy, did we luck out! This is both a bar and a restaurant. We were not interested in alcohol, only food, and they took very good care of us. The staff was extremely attentive and pleasant. The food was wonderful, and the prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed on the Friday early evening when we were there. There was very good live music in the next room, which was piped into ours.

We were passing through town, so, much to our regret, will not become regular customers of this restaurant. Those of you living in or near San Bruno should take full advantage of your proximity to this excellent establishment.
