Nice casual place for a good Italian meal. Good lunch spot and in good weather, sit outside and pretend you smell diesel smoke and are in Italy.
Very good Panini and posta. Enjoy!

This is a cute, cozy spot in downtown San Carlos with a lively vibe and a fun menu. My wife and I come on Friday nights, when the place is buzzing, where we usually eat at the bar while watching the mid-peninsula gentry and the pretties who want to meet them whoop it up. This place is a lot more fun than Town Restaurant down the street, and is much better value, and we haven't had a bad dish yet. In fact, on our last visit, my "orecchiette" pasta was truly outstanding -- with Italian sausage and a creamy sauce with a kick -- and it was just 17 bucks.

Positano is walking distance from the Caltrain station, so you don't have to drive if you don't want to. Parking is reasonably easy too. And several times when we couldn't get in at Town, we were able to either sit at the bar of get a table at Positano.

The previous reviews talking about how Italian the vibe is are exaggerating a bit. The place has an international vibe to be sure, but only the owner is Italian. On our last visit, the receptionist was French, our waiter Turkish, and the cooking staff definitely looked Mexican. The slightly-smarmy owner runs around and schmoozes, which isn't especially pleasant, but he runs a good show.

Bottom lime: for a good meal with a fun crowd at a fair price, Positano is a good choice.

This is one of the most over rated restaurants of SC. Been there now 4 times, the owner used to have Ciao Amore which did not pay their taxes and was taken over by the IRS. He escaped back to Italy for a few years and he is back. His food is much better than his original restaurant, but still quite a bit left to be desired. A lot of butter and heavy creams. We stopped going here. Go across the street to San Remo's for a much better price performance.
