“Come starving or plan to share”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

A sweet local eatery that recognizes their regular patrons by name and make you feel entirely welcome, like dropping by a friend's place to eat. It's small, so don't plan to go when you are rushed or the speed of the service may annoy you. It's not due to being slack, it's due to being a small, family owned operation. The atmosphere more than makes up for it, as you can enjoy the surroundings while you chat and wait for the amazing food.

The prices might seem a bit steep but the portions are HUGE! Seriously, the banana cinnamon french toast, which was to die for, was enough to feed me for three days. So if you want to save money and not carry home food, just split a plate.

I'd definitely stop by again any time and I'm dying to try some of the other menu items I saw served in the dining room.

“A "must" while in San Clemente”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

If you want to feel at home, this is the place to come. I have never been to a place a honestly friendly and welcoming ANYWHERE. On top of this warm fuzzy feeling, they serve up some pretty great food. The biscuits are unlike any I have ever had before ~ also better than I have ever had before and made with pure buttery, flaky goodness. The turkey sandwich with bacon, avocado and cranberry sauce was extremely good ~ it makes my mouth water just to think of it. I will DEFINATELY be making this a regular stop anytime I get to San Clemente!!

“Good old fashioned yumminess...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

My husband and I went up to San Clemente for Labor Day Weekend and had breakfast. The portions were huge! The prices were reasonable and the service was outstanding. Those ladies treat everyone like family.

“Excellent Place for Breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2013

Although the place looks like it’s falling apart, from all other aspects Sugarshack is a gem. We are a group of bicyclists that ride in San Clemente once or twice a year. Every time, after the ride we go there for breakfast. And every time the waitress remembers us and provide friendly and personal service. No matter how custom or complicated the order is, she always get it right.
They serve a unique variety of delicious omelets that come in generous portions.
