This museum is exciting in some areas, but it borders on "nerdy" at times. For kids this WILL be a blast! Kids are much more into this! For adults only though? A little boring, but not at all a waste of money. Definitely a must do once, but not a place to frequent.

Over half of the technology displays didn't work. Very disappointing. It is a good idea but really needs to be maintained.

This may seem to be a place for children but I assure you this place is great for couples as well. It has fun hands on activities and provides a great time. Having gone to other bay area museums this is my favorite.

We visited this museum before leaving San Jose and just loved it. Great hands on exhibits for my boys. We like visiting different museums when we travel and this was one not to be missed. Big word of advice though, call before coming and if they have field trips there, schedule your visit around it since parking costs $5/hr in the parking lot. We happened to go during a YMCA summer fun field trip and the kids were monopolizing the exhibits being under supervised with the leaders. This is not a museum to let your kid go on a field trip unaccompanied by an adult and if you truly want your kid to benefit from it, go with them and explain things and try out the activities with them. We didn't pay extra for the IMAX movies but if you have the time it will be worth it.

I visited this museum hoping to learn about high-tech gadgets, boy was I disappointed. This was a children's science museum, and not a particularly good one.
The exhibits fall into two categories: 1) fun to play with for a few minutes, but completely lacking information, or (2) mind-numbingly boring and filled with un-decipherable amounts of unsorted facts. For example, (1) a wall filled with lights that responds in color and pattern that you can move in front of...no information about the technology given. Or in the space explorations area, example 2: a computer displaying various information that may just as well be hooked up to the Internet. It contained endless paragraphs of information. A textbook would be more exciting.
The web site for the museum looks exciting: design your own rollercoaster and experience an earthquake. These experiences hardly make a museum, and they were not too educational. I would only recommend this for school kids who are touring with a teacher. Adults without kids should skip it.
