The person who gave this trail a bad review obviously hasn't walked far enough on it. I agree that the very beginning of the trail that follows the inside of the creek (from the bridge) can be a little funky but you have to actually hike the trail to get to have an opinion! THis person did not clearly. My favorite entrance to the park is up College avenue to Jones trail and go up the right side (no bikes). It is so pretty at all times of the year. You pass over little bridges and walk on a trail right next to the mountain that is just lovely and cool and green. As you continue to gain height, the view and the work out become better and better. THis series of trails is so awesome because you have so many options. Beware of mountain bikers... and yes there are some very thoughtless dog owners who should have their pet's poop smeared on their car.... don't think I haven't been tempted.... but for the most part everyone behaves. Go with friends for fun fellowship but also alone is very safe. Running great... bring water. Ask for directions if you're not sure... people love to help out!

No one monitors this park walkway, so dont go on the trail after dark unless you can fend for your self.

This section of the Los Gatos trail that I am reviewing concerns only the one or two kilometres in central San Jose, near Campbell City. A beautiful respite from the concrete of the city, it hugs a ravine where the river flows. A kilometre up, and you'll walk over a bridge.
Squirrels and birds abound. Just watch out for the streaking bikes and the trail is for both walkers and bikers alike.

This paved cycle path follows Los Gatos Creek for miles, but we sampled the section south of Campbell Avenue after wandering through the Sunday market in historic Old Campbell. Pick up the trail at Campbell Park, where there is a children's playground and water fountains to fill up your water bottles before heading out.

The creek and path are pretty close to major highways so there is a bit of noise from that, but the trail itself was not too busy for a Sunday afternoon. Vascona county park to the south offers picnic sites, boat rentals on the small lake and and an amusement park for younger kids.

No where to swim though, which is a pity on a hot day!
