I don't care much for the new name of the arena (SAP center? Really?) but what an awesome venue to watch a hockey game! One of the nicest (and surprisingly clean!) sports arenas I've seen, the energy is intense during Sharks games. Even if you're not a hockey fan, or a sports fan at all, you'll come out of a Sharks game feeling pumped! Sharks fans a loud and intense, but friendly and not scary or violent. Perfect for couples or families. Since the VTA Light Rail stops at the Diridon, which is right across the street from the arena, it's far easier to park elsewhere and take the train in. I used to live in Campbell so I'd hop on the train there and would be at the stadium in about 15 minutes. If you have a car you're not too far from downtown SJ and San Pedro square, which is a great place to get food and drink before or after the game!
