$25 per device per day for internet access. $22 + tax per day to use the in-room refrigerator (called a re-stocking fee if they see you've removed their items to store your own personal item overnight). WIth prices like that, they are shooting for the business traveler, and I was there for a fun weekend. It is a beautiful hotel. The bathroom is spacious…a separate shower & bath…a walk-in closet….very lovely. It's a perfect location for San Jose. I'm just not a fan of price gauging on the small things.

I travel to San Jose for work every few weeks and often stay at the Fairmont. The hotel itself is very nice. Big rooms, well appointed and well kept. As far as the rooms themselves they're probably the nicest in San Jose or close to it. Where this hotel falls short is the service. God help you if you valet a car. I typically call down 45 mins before hand, but if there's some sort of convention in town you often can't get through. Calling the front desk usually isn't of any help in that situation, and typically no one picks up at the front desk anyways without sitting on hold for 5 or 10 minutes. Contrast this with the valet guys at the front door who are all super on the ball and friendly. All in all a good hotel, just be prepared for a few frustrations like this. Also, a word of caution for business travelers.... the Fairmont's loyalty program, if you can call it that, is probably the worst in the industry. Good luck ever earning anything close to a free night. At least the internet is free.

Room Tip: Main tower is a bit better

My family and I took a weekend trip to San Jose and loved our location. We were right in the middle of restaurants, movie theatre and tech museum. My son had a blast skateboarding all around town.. We at at the Spaghetti Factory one which was a great big mansion. Great place!

I have been staying at the Fairmont San Jose for about 3 years now. I've stayed at almost all major hotels in DT San Jose and I have to say the Fairmont's amenities and its service are hands down the best in town. They go above and beyond every time I'm here to make me feel welcome. The services they offer through their President's Club rewards program are second to none (i.e. gym clothes and sneakers waiting for you in the room, newspaper of your choice every morning, mobile phone checkin+out, complimentary breakfasts, etc.)

Highly recommended for your next SJ visit.

Upon entering the lobby and walking into a grand entrance one would believe the best is yet to come. Unfortunately other than decent looking hallways the rooms are a BIG disappointment. Tired and dated one can see that they were very nice at one time but in desperate need of a complete renovation. The bathrooms are very dated with very small showers a little bigger than a phone booth. The tiles and faucets are from the sixties and need to be replaced. The drain was rusted, the sink cracked and overall not so nice.
Comfort is a big thing for me and I was not comfortable at all in my room. The a/c was off when I arrived so the room I entered was warm and stuffy. Because the a/c system is so old, the room never cooled down to a comfortable temperature. My friends room was equally warm so I suspect its a problem throughout the hotel. The bed was not comfortable and the linens looked old and tired. The ice machine didn't work on floor 11 so it was inconvenient having to search for another machine that worked. Minibar is a nice feature however the "restocking fee" in addition to the pricy items make it unaffordable. All and all a big disappointment. There are more updated hotels in the area and you're probably better off with one of them over the "Fairmont".

Room is very comfortable. I really like the bed and the bathroom space. The lobby bar is cosy and perfect for an evening drink with colleagues.

There is a nice little park right in front as well. Just had my lunch there and I really enjoyed it.

Good choice for a business trip in San Jose.

It is a awesome hotel to stay right there in down town. Nice rooms. location is amazing.
Service is really really good. a little bit costlier than other hotels, but worth spending that money if you want to stay right in the center of the town.
