Returned to the Apple Farm Inn since they have remodeled the smaller rooms! Pleasantly surprised! We actually like the coziness of the small rooms and the updates are really nice! Super comfy bed, pleasing décor and love the shutters! The bathroom is a bit small but well laid out considering the square footage they have to work with. There is a mirror and dressing table in the room to make it easier for 2 people to get ready at the same time. Again, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The baked goods are still wonderful! Had breakfast at the restaurant and, again, the staff was top notch! The wine reception was really great this time as the weather was gorgeous so they held it outside by the waterwheel. Perfect! There was a festival at the Apple Farm the day we were set to check in and a member of the staff called to let us know about this days ahead of time and were already set to compensate us for any inconvenience with an apple pie! Although it was not necessary as we were a late check in (due to a wedding we attended before we checked in) I thought this was a beautiful gesture! I'm sure the festival was pretty cool and sorry we missed it! Maybe next year. All in all, we would stay here again. PS, the cookies are delish! And don't miss the outlet by the waterwheel!

Room Tip: If you are not going to be in your room much and you like cozy, pick one of the smaller rooms where...

I LOVED this hotel! It is the epitome of cuteness and charm. The suite was very large with a cozy sitting area, fireplace, four poster king size bed and lots of little touches like apple cider, chocolates, and various magazines. We only stayed one night on the way up from LA to SF so did not get to use many of the facilities. I wish we could have stayed longer because this would be a great place to relax and unwind for the whole weekend. We tried some of the delicious baked goods and walked about 15 minutes into the lovely town centre with lots of restaurants and shops.

From the moment we arrived at until we left 2 days later service was exceptional ,friendly, and always a smile. As we checked in we were offered a glass of wine, given 2 tasty cookies and told there was a wine tasting reception on the deck by the mill. On to our king bed room overlooking the creek. The room is large with a nice size desk, a sitting area with sofa and large chair. Room seems to have been recently redone very clean. There is a gas fireplace which we didn't use because weather was in 80's two days we were there. It has a large flat screen t.v. mounted on wall Dresser ,night stands and writing desk have glass tops very nice not to worry about water stains or coffee rings. Bathroom is very large with tub/shower combo new marble counter and good size sink with new fixtures. The "ubber" nice thing is bud vase with fresh flowers on the mirror. All in all top notch from beginning to end. Absolutely highly recommend and with TravelZoo deal unbelievable value

Room Tip: Room 317 overlooking creek super

We have two children with special needs and this hotel is perfect for our brief getaways. It's peaceful, welcoming, quiet - all the things we tend not to find in bigger chain hotels. The pool is small, but typically not too busy. The wait staff in the restaurant are friendly and accommodating, and the menu is more than adequate for our fussy eaters. The family suites (there are only two of them) provide a queen bed and two doubles in a separate room; all the rooms are excellent.

We just returned from a two night stay at the Apple Farm Inn. The hotel is about a mile and 1/2 from town an easy walk down hill, not as easy returning up hill to the hotel. We booked a king duluxe room on Groupon. Our room was clean and spacious with a king size bed (a bit too soft for our taste), a sitting area with a sofa, table, chair and desk, a gas fireplace, a large flat screen TV, a mini fridge, and a large bathroom with plenty of counter space and a combination bath/shower. Our room was in the main building facing the back. The grounds of the hotel were beautifully manicured with lush flowers and an outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The hotel is big on charm with an abundance of art and bric-a brac; but it was a bit over the top for my liking. I had visions of Martha Stewart on too much cafeine. The staff were helpful and friendly and even upgraded our room after some confusion with Groupon. When we entered the hotel, the reptionist offered us complimentary coffee, hot apple cider or wine. I highly recommend visiting SLO on a Thursday night in order to catch the Farmer's Market. It's truly extraordinary with great food, live music etc. While in SLO we also enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Novo. We were seated on a beautiful, heated outdoor patio overlooking over the creek while enjoying delicious food and drink.

Room Tip: Book a room in the main building facing the back of the property

We really found the best place for our quick weekend away. Took the beautiful Coast Starlight train to San Luis Obispo from SF. Inn offered to pick us up at train station but we walked. Never left the Inn because they had a wonderful wine tasting and their restaurant is right there. Great menu and wonderful and friendly service. Nice pool and hot tub which we practically had to ourselves the whole weekend. Will return again!

This was my third stay at the Apple Farm Inn, my "go-to" hotel in San Luis Obispo. The hotel has many more "pros" than "cons," and I have yet to have an experience that's less than very good here.

Pros:
1) Location. The hotel is just a block off of the 101; very convenient to access and escape from on getaway day. It is a short drive to downtown SLO where there is a great selection of restaurants. If you ask for a room at the "back side" of the Inn, you will be looking out over woods and a creek -- not what you expect from a hotel a block from a busy freeway!
2) Staff. All of the staff I have interacted, or even passed in the hallways, from the front desk to cleaners, have always been cheerful, friendly and helpful.
3) Room. Many of their rooms have big, bay windows with sitting nooks, and four poster beds. Rooms are spacious, well maintained, and have everything you need for a short stay.
4) Amenities. From a glass of wine at check-in, to home-baked cookies, to bottles of sparkling cider in your room, to the souveneer wooden apple, to the bathroom amenities are great! Wireless internet included. You pay a $5 "resort charge" for the amenities, but they give you a $5 coupon for the restaurant which nullifies the charge.
5) The restaurant. This has to be the best breakfast venue in SLO! Don't miss breakfast here.
6) Value for money is very good.

Cons:
1) OK, so all the bric-a-brac, tchotkies, and down-home-goodness is a bit on the twee side. If you cringe at Thomas Kincaide paintings, you might want to think twice about staying here.
2) Rooms at the "front" of the inn face the parking lot; make sure you specify a room in the rear with a bay window!

Room Tip: Specify a room in the rear of the inn when you make your reservation. Try to get one of the rooms w...
