As one other review says; staying at this inn really is like visiting your favourite relative / friend , who just happens to be an awesome cook, knowledgeable about the area, helpful and yet not pushy.. The owner leaves you feeling like nothing is too much trouble. She recommended restaurants to us, a fantastic local sandwich shop, an amazing beach, a local outlet centre and knew just about everything going on around town. Free internet was much appreciated - something not available everywhere we have stayed.. Our room was Mountainview and lived. up to its name- we left the doors to the balcony open in the evening for the sunset. The Inn is conveniently placed to walk the 6 blocks or so into town and we did this several times - safe even at night. We cannot recommend the hospitality or facilities of Heritage Inn enough. and judging by other happy looking fellow guests we are not alone.

We stayed with Susanne for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon trip to California. The Heritage Inn was the perfect spot to explore San Luis Obispo and it's surrounding attractions.

The house itself in immaculate. We had a lovely room at the back, overlooking some wonderful countryside. The room itself was perfect - clean and comfortable. We were a short stroll (10 minutes) in to town. We arrived on a Thursday, just in time for the famous Farmers Market which is a MUST see in SLO. Great fun.

I'm sure she's equally hospitable to guests of all nationalities but being a fellow Brit, Susanne took us under her wing! We were made to feel so at home as our hostess provided all that we needed - a great breakfast, ideas about where to visit during our stay, coupons for local restaurants and complimentary drinks/cookies on tap!

We're already saving for a return trip to California and should we swing by SLO again we'll definitely stay at the Heritage Inn again.

We stayed for 3 nights and Susanne, the inn's proprietess, is one of the nicest and most accommodating hosts/hostesses you will ever encounter. Our room was cozy, charming and, unlike other reviewers, we never heard any noise at all from the road or surrounding area - maybe because we faced the back of the inn. We had a lovely view through floor-to-ceiling french doors of the mountains and we watched the fiery sunset 1 night, and the ghostly fog moving in over the mountain which was also beautiful on another night. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept like logs each night. I looked at the other rooms and they also looked very comfortable and attractive. The location is very convenient, as we walked downtown every day to go to the farmers' market, restaurants and shops, movie theaters, etc. Susanne provides a wonderful breakfast buffet each morning - a hot egg dish (e.g., asparagus quiche, breakfast casserole, scrambled eggs with ham, cheese and bacon), fresh fruit, several types of homemade muffins and delectable pound cakes (e.g., lemon coconut, vanilla, banana nut), yogurt, toast. The breakfast is substantial and delicious, and it's a buffet so that you can have several helpings - as a result, we were never hungry for lunch. Susanne offered to make a "doggie bag" with quiche for my boyfriend's dinner one day when he was going to another town to organize an evening event for work. Wine, sherry and yummy homemade oatmeal raisin cookies are always out in the sitting room. You can go down and sit by the creek in the back as well. Free high speed wifi internet access is a critical "must" for my mate and was handy for looking up information about local attractions. Susanne provides tremendous value by keeping rates very reasonable for the convenience, attention and amenities that she provides She has owned the inn for only a year after a career in hotel management, and is planning some renovations in stages (painting, bringing back the hardwood floors on the 1st floor) that will make it even nicer. We would definitely stay here again. This would be a nice place to rent out entirely for a group or family.

We have traveled all around the world and stayed at all kinds of different hotels and B&B's. The Heritage Inn is one of the best! It is so much like being at home. We felt very comfortable. The breakfast, which is included, was so good! Homemade pastries, quiche and fruit! We highly recommend the Heritage Inn, and will stay again.

Suzanne makes her Inn feel like home. The rooms are very comfortable, well appointed and roomy. Remember this is an historic B&B, so there is no TV, (I primise, you'll never miss it) no high end marble bathrooms, but you'll want for nothing. This is my second visit. Graduation and Masters Program Graduation for family. I have to make up a reason to travel from CO to CA just so I can get caught up with Suzanne and spend a couple of nights in her lovely home. Have one of her yummy cookies at check in (my family loves them). Breakfast was wonderful, I have celiac disease and had to ask for special dietary requirements. She knew exactly what my limitation was and how to make me feel like I was getting as good (or better) of a breakfast as everyone else. Take a walk down to the brook that runs through the property. I would higly recommend. The only draw back? It's on a busy street. But the road noise is a small price to pay.

The Heritage Inn is a perfect B & B choice! Susanne, the owner, couldn't be more delightful. She definitely caters to every need and will spoil you for your entire visit. The breakfasts are great(way to much food :o), and she always has cookies wine and a stocked fridge with drinks. And, when relaxing in the living room, she will often bring out little snacks(she is a joy to spend time with). The rooms are adorable, each one is unique. And, the beds are so comfortable! It's a cozy inn and Susanne immediately makes you feel at home. We were thrilled to have stumbled across this quaint(and very reasonable) inn last year. We enjoyed this return visit as much as the first and will always stay here when returning to SLO.
