A cool and shady spot to rest and recover after exploring the Mission and the Historic Museum.
At night enjoyed a televised concert.

Mission Plaza is not only the nonpareil setting of downtown SLO but of the entire Central Coast. The gateway to the Plaza is now complete with the outstanding renewal of the 800 block of Monterey St. How many towns in California have a year round running creek, a nearly 250 year old original Mission and the best restaurants in town all within a stones throw of each other. Come here to enjoy the pleasures of life, history, community, and nature in one fabulous location. This is quintessential SLO!

Center of town plaza in front of the old mission. The jewel of downtown San Luis Obispo, Mission Plaza is home to several major community events such as Concerts in the Plaza, via dei Colori SLO, Children's Day in the Plaza, Taste of San Luis and many others. The Plaza is at the base of Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa and follows San Luis Obispo Creek.

Stumbled upon this after being at the Museum of Art. A short flight of stairs from street level to the banks of the San Luis Obispo Creek. On the opposite bank you could see the patios of different restaurants / bars. At the end of the pathway, the Mission Plaza. At the time, didn't realize that was the other side of the Mission. Lots of trees in the area, so shady and cool.

The wife and I loved this area. Very enjoyable place to walk around before you go into the Mission. Bring quarters for street parking.
