I had booked our site (R loop #11) over 6 months ago to ensure we would fit and have our privacy. This site was great. I think that the charge of $13 for an extra vehicle is way too high - $5 should be the maximum amount.
Sites are not perfectly level (2 leveler blocks per tire) and backing-in wasn't a problem but #11 had quite a slope. Not sure if a self-leveler longer than 30' would fit. Hosts are available in each loop. Park is showing a few signs of budget cuts. Campground cleanliness is not the best however the garbage cans are emptied daily. Park is quite quiet at night - we did not hear any highway traffic but the groups who rented the ballpark sites certainly were enjoying themselves right to the last minute. This is a pleasant park to stay at, and we would come back.
The reason I say convenient is that we were there for the Paso Robles winefest. And we always ensured we had one person who wasn't sampling anything at the wineries or distilleries.
We camped here in a 30' travel trailer.

We enjoyed our weekend stay at El Chorro. The park is close to San Luis Obispo and Cambria. Our campsite was private and the park is small clean and quiet. We will be back!

A hidden gem for Cal Poly parents who either own an RV or who are willing to rent one and camp when visiting their kids. It's just a couple miles up Hwy 1 from the Highland entrance to California State Polytechnic University. Why is this important? Because hotel prices double and triple during open house, WOW, and graduation weekends. HOT TIP: Camp at El Chorro Regional Park while visiting SLO and you will save money and have lots to do.

Golf is within walking distance. The Botanical Park is on premise. Hiking all around you. Close to downtown SLO and Higuera St.

If you don't own an RV you can find RV Rentals by owner, delivered and set up at your campsite. Reserve it, then book your RV. It's like a mobile hotel room, except you can cook in it.

We are always looking for off leash dog parks as we take our road trips. This is a nice park on the road north of town (Hwy 1). The facilities are nice and there's lots of room. No grass though; only bark shavings.
