“Best place to take kids!!”

Sunset Drive-In Theatre

I've been coming to this movie theater since I was a kid, and now I take my kids!! It is way cheaper then taking them to the movie theater and the seating is better! We usually take our 2 big cars and park backwards and pile up the pillows & blankets! We like to get there about an hour before the movie starts to get in the first row, then the kids can play in front without worrying about other cars & we pack a picnic dinner to cut down on the costs too! It's really a fun family outing, and they love attempting to stay up for the second movie!!

Sunset Drive-In is one of the last drive-in theaters. It is a great place to see a couple flicks for less than what you'd see in a sit-down theatre. You can layout in the bed of your truck, sit in your car, or even pull out a couple chairs. You will need a radio (usually your car radio) to hear the movie, unless you like to lip read or listen to your neighbors'. Excellent for a family trip, romantic date, or girls night out.

I believe there are only a little over 100 drive in theaters left in the country. This is right off 101, and well worth the experience with your family. Watching films in this type of local is full of memories for those of us baby boomers. Snack bar is very reasonable, sound system is good.Site is also used on some days for a flea market setting as well.

Sure, it's funky, but a trip to the Sunset Drive-In takes you back to a time in history when this was THE way to see movies, and the nostalgia makes up for the substandard movie viewing experience you would find in a top-level theater like Regal in AG. Be sure to catch the swap meet on Sunday morning--lots of great finds to be had!

We came here on a week night for a double-feature with the kids. Great picture and sound quality. Well-behaved crowd. Nice snack bar. Very cheap admission: Two first-run movies for an adult and two kids for $14! All around, it was a great night out during our vacation.
