It's different from Starbucks coffee. Ascendo coffee has more of nut and plum taste. It doesn't have a bold taste n not as aromatic.
Mocha is more milky than chocolate.
Big, open space to hang out.
Nice, friendly and helpful staffs.

The coffee here is very good and it is nice to spend coffee money somewhere other than Starbucks once in a while. The millennial staff is cheerful and enthusiastic about coffee and tea. There are chess sets one can play with and they have a lot of space. I like how one part of the cafe is reserved as a social space and laptops are not allowed. (Don't worry nerds, they are allowed in a HUGE space on the other side of the cafe. It's a good place. If for some reason you are feeling guilty about enjoying your coffee too much, you can walk to the 18th century mission two blocks away and beg for forgiveness. There are not many places in North America where you can do that!

This was a great find for someone still learning about SLO. Lesson learned: get off Higuera St. and discover the places on Monterey St. and other side streets. This place is a perfect spot for espresso or coffee any time of the day. The baristas are particular about quality and they won't hand you an espresso drink unless they're completely satisfied with it, and they'll redo it until you're completely satisfied with it. Resist any urge to get your drink to go—get a cappuccino in a cup and sit down and enjoy it. The cafe is very comfortable with a fair number of tables available without cramming them together. A nice selection of pastries are also available.

Love, love this cute cafe!! The employees are very nice and friendly! After a long night of driving from Monterey, my husband and I woke up and walked to this cafe for some coffee and hot coco. I love that they have almond milk as an alternative to milk since I am lactose intolerant. We also had a pastry with our drinks. There is also lovely art to to purchase. It's a great place to read or meet up with friends.
