We reserved a Sunday night on very short notice. After hubby said he wanted to stay elsewhere (A. Farm), I decided to check the reviews here and decided this would be better. I asked for creekside, and that's what we got (though there's absolutely no access to the creek!) and stayed in Room 626. First impression - it sure doesn't look like any other motel in SLO! And that's a GOOD thing. :) The room seemed smallish, but it may have felt that way because there was lots of BIG furniture - king bed, upholstered bench at the foot of the bed, two nice nightstands, big desk, and a big chest of drawers with a BIG flat-screen. He complained that the only chair was the desk chair, and the wireless internet was slow (true, but we didn't ask for a DSL cable, which the website says they provide). The bathroom also seemed a bit small, but again, it had a big chest of drawers (with TWO hairdryers hiding in the top and bottom drawers), two pedestal sinks, nice toiletries, a glass shelf beside each sink (very nice)and the shower was absolutely cavernous! The tile work was beautiful. Bed was very comfy, room was very quiet, and we both slept great. Hubby said he didn't feel the cost was justified for such a cramped space - I guess I agree, a bit.
The breakfast room was smallish, too (wouldn't have wanted to see it Sunday morning!) but the breakfast itself was rather amazing for a "free" meal. We had fresh-scrambled eggs (I also had their delish mango salsa), freshly cooked bacon, fresh coffee cakes (lemon - YUM), several kinds of bread and bagels to toast, wonderful condiments for the crockpot oatmeal (but the oatmeal was barely warm), Starbucks coffee, good selection of teas and sugar + substitutes (in the drawers under the coffee urns - hubby couldn't find the sugar, another complaint LOL) Would have loved fresh half & half, but there were only the tiny little containers. Of course hubby wanted to go to the AFarm for breakfast, too, but we were just there a few weeks ago, and this was great.
The office staff was invariably cheerful, professional, and ready to help in any way possible. Hubby said he wouldn't come back, but I sure would - guess I'll have to drag him!
