“I LOVED IT (hubby not so much)”
Reviewed 28 July 2011

We reserved a Sunday night on very short notice. After hubby said he wanted to stay elsewhere (A. Farm), I decided to check the reviews here and decided this would be better. I asked for creekside, and that's what we got (though there's absolutely no access to the creek!) and stayed in Room 626. First impression - it sure doesn't look like any other motel in SLO! And that's a GOOD thing. :) The room seemed smallish, but it may have felt that way because there was lots of BIG furniture - king bed, upholstered bench at the foot of the bed, two nice nightstands, big desk, and a big chest of drawers with a BIG flat-screen. He complained that the only chair was the desk chair, and the wireless internet was slow (true, but we didn't ask for a DSL cable, which the website says they provide). The bathroom also seemed a bit small, but again, it had a big chest of drawers (with TWO hairdryers hiding in the top and bottom drawers), two pedestal sinks, nice toiletries, a glass shelf beside each sink (very nice)and the shower was absolutely cavernous! The tile work was beautiful. Bed was very comfy, room was very quiet, and we both slept great. Hubby said he didn't feel the cost was justified for such a cramped space - I guess I agree, a bit.

The breakfast room was smallish, too (wouldn't have wanted to see it Sunday morning!) but the breakfast itself was rather amazing for a "free" meal. We had fresh-scrambled eggs (I also had their delish mango salsa), freshly cooked bacon, fresh coffee cakes (lemon - YUM), several kinds of bread and bagels to toast, wonderful condiments for the crockpot oatmeal (but the oatmeal was barely warm), Starbucks coffee, good selection of teas and sugar + substitutes (in the drawers under the coffee urns - hubby couldn't find the sugar, another complaint LOL) Would have loved fresh half & half, but there were only the tiny little containers. Of course hubby wanted to go to the AFarm for breakfast, too, but we were just there a few weeks ago, and this was great.

The office staff was invariably cheerful, professional, and ready to help in any way possible. Hubby said he wouldn't come back, but I sure would - guess I'll have to drag him!

Stayed at the end of June for one night of our road trip up CA-1. Conveniently located right off the 101. Room 604 is in a building at the back of the property. Parking (free) is a challenge if you have a large/long vehicle. We were quite pleased with the size of the room/bathroom, very clean and comfortable. We slept well due to the comfortable bed/pillows and quiet surroundings. Free wifi but slow possibly due to the location of the room being at the edge of the property (had no problem when I parked in front of the reception room). Breakfast was a challenge due to the small sized room (adjacent to the check-in area). Of our 7-day road trip, SLO Creek Lodge was definitely the best. I would recommend this place to all and plan on returning if I'm ever in the area.

The people at the lodge will bend over backward to make you feel welcome here. They are friendly, accommodating and flexible. We were the last to show up for breakfast both days we were there, and they always kept everything out for us and didn't rush us at all. The room was clean and well kept. The bathroom is huge and luxurious. There were added pluses in the room like a dvd player, direct tv, free wifi, a small fridge and a microwave. They have a great collection of dvd's to borrow for free from the office, though, there is so much to do in the area that we didn't have time to watch any. The location is great - it's easy to get to all of the neighboring towns like Cambira, Paso Robles, Pismo, San Simeon... very central.

Stayed five nights. Although the room is a little small, they are very nice. Fireplace (didn't need it) large bathroom, and very quiet. Short walk to breakfast. The staff is courteous and helpful.

Nice management touches, very nice rooms but pick your room carefully! Bring your own pillows!

We went to SLO and the San Luis Creek Lodge to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We have stayed in other motels in SLO in the past. This was the best. We stayed in an upstairs room in the Plantation building, overlooking the creek. The room was beautifully furnished and had amenities I would expect only in a higher priced hotel. Breakfast was served in a cozy room where we shared a table with other guests. In addition to the usual choice of cereals, muffins, bagels, and fruit that make up a typical continental breakfast, the owner took orders for scrambled eggs (with spinach and cheese if desired). We enjoyed our stay very much and will return again someday.

Room Tip: We stayed in 620 and loved it.

Stayed for one night and found the hotel to be very comfortable. Exceptionally clean and spacious rooms, good quality bathroom (although note, no bathtub, just a large walk in shower), comfortable bed.
