Yes, the rooms are comfortable and attractively styled. And despite being there for Valentine's weekend we didn't have a problem getting a table for breakfast either day (Saturday and Sunday morning) unlike a previous reviewer for this same weekend - perhaps we are later risers. The freshly cooked eggs were an unexpected treat. There are three "lodges", Londonderry (more Solvang than Irish) closest to the reception/breakfast building, "Plantation" furthest away down a steep slope which runs beside the "Craftsman" where we had a room. The room was large and well set up in the Craftsman style and really quite well done, which made the small issues seem larger than they really were; the bathroom door was hung the wrong way for no good reason, such that it opens into the tiny entry area and blocks the closet and the entry door; the bathroom tile was not edged properly, just cut tile edges; the towel rack was bent and loose; the nightlights (2) were both dead. At this level of pricing it surprised me that these kind of details were let slide. My biggest disappointment was that the advertised Wi-Fi didn't work the whole time we were there. We inquired about it twice and were told the system would be reset. The last morning I was going to mention it again but then overheard the staff telling another guest that they didn't have an answer to why the Wi-Fi was not working and would have to "find some nerds" to fix it. Really?! The car parking is a bit tricky as someone else pointed out but it's okay. We were on the third floor of the Craftsman building (relative to the entry door which is down the steep slope that leads to the Plantation building. Carrying luggage down the sloping driveway and then up three flights of stairs was a challenge - we'd packed one big suitcase. I'm really not sure if we'd go here again. It's quite expensive and only almost justifies the expense with the comfort level provided.

Room Tip: If you have heavy luggage try and get a lower floor room

Thank you for taking the time to post your review here on Tripadvisor. I am glad you enjoyed our rooms and breakfast. I did check out the room details you mentioned and ensured that all necessary corrections were made. I apologize for the wi fi glitch. We have a long standing arrangement with a local professional company to assist with such matters, but the equipment necessary for the repair had to be ordered. We take our wi fi connection very seriously as it is very important to almost all of our guests.

Should you decide to stay with us again in the future, please call and we would be happy to describe all available rooms and perhaps, if you have heavy luggage etc, we could suggest the most suitable location.

Thank you again for taking the time to give us your feedback, we appreciate it.

June

My husband and I just spent four nights at this lodge visiting our daughter at Cal Poly. We stayed in the Plantation House and it was clean and beautifully decorated. The staff, especially June, were so friendly and efficient. We loved waking up each day and walking up the hill to a delicious breakfast. Will look forward to future visits to this outstanding property!

Thank you for posting your comments on Tripadvisor. We really appreciate your positive feedback. Of course we always love to hear good remarks about our staff. We do try our best.

We hope to see you again when you come down to see your daughter. We are in a very convenient location for Cal Poly. There couldn't be a nicer area to visit.

Thanks again,

June

We stayed at the San Luis Creek Lodge for three nights over the holiday weekend. The room and service were lovely but there are two big drawbacks:

1) The parking situation is terrible. The parking lot is basically a long one-way drive down a steep incline to the last property where we stayed (Plantation). There are six parking spots in front of the building, not enough for the number of rooms, and even when we were able to park in a spot, getting out was an ordeal. One shouldn't have to cut the wheel 10 times to exit a space safely. The morning we left, we parked farther up in the lot and we couldn't turn the car around due to a huge truck parked right behind us. We had to drive down the incline to the end of the lot and turned around with difficulty.

2) The breakfast room has about four to five tables. The first morning all the tables were occupied. We were told we could go back to the room and be called when a table was available, or we could take a tray to our room. Neither of these options was agreeable, especially the second option. It would be extremely difficult to carry a tray down the steep driveway incline to the Plantation building. As we wanted to start our day so we skipped the breakfast. We were annoyed that we were paying for the breakfast (in the price of the room) and weren't able to take advantage of it. It may have been unusual for all the tables to be occupied at the same time but considering there are 25 rooms, the breakfast room is not nearly big enough.

I doubt if we would stay again mostly because of the parking situation. I realize the management cannot change this but prospective guests should know about this before they book.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the Plantation building if you can't walk down a steep incline and you care about...

Thank you for posting your review on Tripadvisor. I am happy that you liked the room and service. Unfortunately the parking situation on a fully booked holiday weekend is at it's least favorable, depending on the type of vehicle. We do manage very well overall and there are some parking areas on the street should anyone choose that. I am sorry the parking proved difficult for you. Had I realized you found the incline on our driveway too difficult to manage carrying a tray I would have been very happy to find you some assistance. Thank you for your comments, they could be very helpful for our future guests.

We were happy to have you stay with us, and if in future you were to consider returning, please contact me to discuss exactly which rooms are available if that would be helpful for you.

Thanks again,

June

My girlfriend and I spent 2 nights at San Luis Creek Lodge over Valentine's Day weekend and we could not have been more impressed. From check-in to check-out, the staff was extremely polite and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and very beautifully decorated. We immediately felt at home. After a night of sleeping in the incredibly comfortable bed, the made-to-order breakfast was a wonderful surprise and very delicious. We will definitely be staying here again whenever we are back in the area.

Stayed at San Luis creek lodge this weekend and it was great. I've stayed at many places in town and this is one of the best. Rooms were unique, clean and well furnished. Sort of a cross between a bed and breakfast and a hotel. The breakfast was great with wonderful scones and waffles (along with many other things). They even gave my son a stuffed animal to cuddle with and fresh cookies everyday. All this and family owned, much better than those big chains!

My fiancé and I stayed one night here with a room in the Plantation building. The room was very clean, comfortable, and luxurious! Friendly staff works hard to make sure guests are pleased. Lovely breakfast. Definitely went above and beyond expectations. We are locals and we plan to return to the lodge for another staycation here soon!
