“City to the Sea Stay”
Reviewed 30 December 2008

Have stayed at the SL Creek Lodge numerous times for getaways on the Central Coast. Patty and staff are so kind and all the various rooms are so wonderfully appointed and relaxing. Love the Plantation building back on along the creek and that it is so close to walk downtown or to Cal Poly. It is my #1 choice to stay here when I can.

  • Liked — The rooms are all unique, comfortable and warm - like you are in a real house.
  • Disliked — Weekend pricing really jumps -- almost too much frankly.

I stayed with my boyfriend for two nights en route to LA. We arrived a few hours before check in, but our room was ready, and we were able to get in and relax immediately. We stayed in the Craftsman room 422. It was nicely appointed and had great furniture and a fireplace. The room was large with a king sized bed and an octagonal shaped sitting area with many cute decoration details. My only complaint is that you can not have the closet door open at the same time as the bathroom door. The entrance is bit small but once you get into the room, it is great. It had a large TV, microwave, refrigerator, and a great selection of DVD's to borrow. Breakfast is included and it was delicious! There was a wide selection of options. Everything from oatmeal with delicious fruits to mix in to coffee cake to scrambled eggs. I have stayed at a few different places in SLO, and this is my favorite. I will absolutely come back!

  • Liked — Breakfast and comfort of the room
  • Disliked — entrace way to room really crammed together

We stayed here for two nights on our trip to the Central Coast. We had a special $129/night midweek rate for the Nottingham Room in the Londonderry building. The room was a bit small, but the bathroom was large with two sinks and a walk-in shower. We had a fireplace in the room as well. Everything was clean and decorated attractively. The front desk was friendly, although the complimentary breakfast ended a bit early in our opinion. For the price we paid, it was a great experience, and the rooms had much more style than a chain hotel would.

  • Liked — The quality furnishings and cleanliness
  • Disliked — The smallish size of the room

I stayed with my friend in this hotel on my way to LA. arrived very late at night and was hesitating which hotel to stay at since i had no previous reservation and san louis obispo has a huge selection of hotels. i was welcomed by the receptionist, who was very professional and very friendly. was able to park my car in the hotel and was given a huge room with 2 queen size beds and a fire place. it was immaculately clean, very newly refurbished and was extra super comfortable.the room had very nice beds, with high-quality very soft cotton linen, very good pillows (which you seldom have in hotels), a huge TV (No flatscreen, but it wouldn't have fit in the decor anyways), a very nice bathroom with Aveda toiletries which is a huge plus. The room was called buckingham palace i think or something, and had traditional english decor, but all very well laid out, very beautifully and tastely decorated. very special attention is paid to the smallest detail and the cleaning staff spend a long time litterally cleaning the bath tub and making the room immaculate. The room had a microwave and a big selection of English historical books. sooooooo charming. DVDs could be rented from the reception area and an ice machine, a very funny one is right besides reception entrance.Breakfast which was included was a huge plus and consisted of very delicious home-made cakes, the lady asked me if i wanted omelettes or something in the morning which she was willing to prepare, fresh fruit, milk, starbucks filtered coffee and very delicious Granola (cereals) which could be mixed with the nuts provided too. It felt like i was home really. This hotel would cost a fortune in a big city without the extra friendliess and professionalism of the staff. Little brownies are provided for guests throughout the day, and the whole experience has been very enjoyable. Paying for the extra money for the fireplace was definitely worth it since i suppose the rooms are nicer and bigger. Being a very demanding customer, i was hugely satisfied by the service and the high quality of this place. If you're going to Heart Castle or just stopping at Saint Louis Obispo, look no further, this is THE place to stay. My room was right in front of the staircase of the first building on the left once you enter the parking. sooooooooooooo loved it and i more than highly recommend it.

  • Liked — The room
  • Disliked — The lack of skimmed milk , hahaha but that's a detail.

My husband, six month old son and I stayed here for two nights on our way from San Fran to Santa Barbara and had a wonderful stay. We stayed in a room in the Arts & Crafts building which was spotlessly clean, spacious and very comfortable.
On check in the staff were very very friendly and helpful providing lots of information about the local area, restaurants and attractions - she was a mine of great information!
Breakfast was simple but ample and there was a decent selection in a very calm breakfast room. Again great service with a personal and friendly touch.
This is a great location from which to explore wine country and Hearst Castle and there are some nice shops and restaurants in San Luis. They are a little walk from the hotel but to be honest we enjoyed the walk after our evening meal.
The hotel also has a selection of magazines and lots of DVDs at reception that you can borrow to play in your room - with a young baby this was a great option for us one night.
All in all a lovely place to stay with very welcoming staff.

We stayed at the Creek Lodge for a one-night stopover whilst driving from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Our room was large and excellently presented. The bed was very comfortable - wish we could have brought it home!

Breakfast was provided in the hotel gate house and was a decent selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast etc.

There is ample free parking at the hotel.

Our only criticism was that it was inconvenient not to have an in-room safe.

Stayed in the Plantation building (creek view, room 626) for one night. The building and the view were special requests, which were accommodated. All three buildings and the main house are very new and attractively furnished. Our room was not large, but well decorated with a large (king) bed, a TV, a fridge, an arm chair. There was also a coffee/tea maker with Starbucks coffee, hot cocoa, and tea. The bathroom was spacious with two-people shower, a skylight, his and hers sinks and Aveda toiletries. Breakfast was plentiful -- eggs, breads, yogurt, fruit, juices, oatmeal, cereal, sweet baked goods, tea, and coffee. Everyone was friendly and dinner recommendations were right on the money. We liked this place and would not hesitate to recommend to others. When we return, we'd like to try another building, just for variety.

  • Liked — furnishings, beautiful new buildings, Aveda, breakfast
  • Disliked — if I had to choose something, the room was a bit smallish
