This is a great hotel, ideally located for a overnight stay if you travel between San Fransisco and L.A. They have beautifull spacious rooms but a fridge and a big tv. You can rent DVD's for free (and they have a lot of choice). Free internet, free parking, very clean, very good breakfast, very quiet, nice pool. I would definatelly come back!

I guess my basis of comparison for LaCuesta would be against a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express or Fairfields , which are roughly at the same price points and have the same type of amenities/room size, etc. I see these type of places as providing a reliable, cost effective solution with all the necessary amenities plus they are usually quite clean and fresh. Rooms are relatively small and not too lavish or interesting (as is the case of most of their lobbies and grounds) so these type of places that make for good one-two night stays where you are not spending much time at the hotel itself.

LaCuesta is certainly no better, nor appreciably worse than most Hamptons/ Holiday Inn Express, although if given a choice between a "typical Hampton Inn" and LaCuesta at about the same price, I'd stay at the Hampton. La Cuesta is a good value. Room was clean and had all the necessities (cable TV, ironing board, hair dryer, etc). Service was quite friendly at the front desk. Parking was convenient and readily available. The continental breakfast was solid, and having a waffle maker was a nice touch.
Several things weren't quite ideal, though. When we first arrived the room had an odd antiseptic odor and that same smell was present in another room that they could have given us. We chose to stay in the original one, and by the time we returned from dinner the smell seemed to have dissipated some. Maybe it came from some substances that were used to clean the room. The biggest problem, however, was the freeway noise at night. It made sleeping difficult because it was quite loud. Not everyone will notice this, but I did, and it would be best to see how noticeable and bothersome that noise would be when you check in. That's what we'd do if we were to stay here again.
Last but not least, although "Free Wi-fi' was advertised, I couldn't get it to work in the room. If it had needed it more urgently, I would have inquired at the front desk how it works (there were no codes provided on the room key jacket) but we were running out.
There was also a lack of brochure material about local places in the room. It was a bit spartan in that sense.
If we had needed to spend more time in the room some of these things would have been more glaring issues but on an overall basis we were satisfied but not delighted with our stay. LaCuesta is a reliable, "safe" place to stay because you get decent value for the money and it certainly is pleasant enough, and we'd stay there again. But I imagine other places would also deliver to about the same level for the same price, so I'd stop short of raves.

Room Tip: Check on freeway noise in your assigned room

I stayed here based on the quality of Trip Advisor reviews and am happy I did. I actually would have stayed up in Paso but rooms there were running $250++ on the Saturday I needed to be in town. The La Questa was well worth the price (and more).

Its in a handy location just off the freeway and close to downtown SLO. The grounds are nice, parking is available underneath the hotel or in the regular lot. They serve a free breakfast but its tempting to walk across the street to the Apple Farm for a really tasty meal instead.

The lobby is bright and clean as are the rooms. Nice bedding, room well lit, balcony overlooking the creek. All in all, very nice, no complaints - good value, good hotel, definitely recommend!!!

This place was just off the freeway and close to downtown. They offered a great rate and a nice room. It was quiet, clean and comfy. Perfect get away. We will be making this hotel our SLO home-away-from-home.

Room Tip: look for special rates on web page or AAA

This is the first time I have been motivated to write a review. My stay here was great. From moment I arrived, the friendly, helpful staff made me welcome. The room was very clean, comfortable with little touches I appreciate like - FREE Wifi - I can't believe the bigger, much more expensive hotels charge extra for this -, make-up remover towelette, a rubber ducky at teh tub, a mini fridge with room in it (not packed with overpriced minibar items), wonderful linens and towels, decent continental breakfast (again clean and maintained) and recently remodeled rooms. I would stay here again and recommend it to my friends traveling. For the price, the room was much better than I expected.
