Dining at Jaffa Café is a unique experience. It actually re-defines "casual dining." First, you help yourself to your desired beverages (unusual beer selections and soft drinks). If you want a glass, you go to the counter and ask for it. No charges are made or recorded. At the end of your meal you just tell the cashier what you had. Sometimes a small dessert treat is offered as a gesture of appreciation for your business.

The food is typical middle-eastern: Falafel, Gyros, Kebabs, Schwarma, Various Wraps, Salad plates; all done very well and reasonably priced. All entrée plates, I think, are under $10. The setting is open to Monterey St. with inside and outside tables.

Delicious gyros and other Middle Eastern food. Very friendly and pleasant. You order food at the counter, but pay after eating your meal. Very sincere, friendly and trusting owner!

Great food at a reasonable price. We go there often. Each cafe is owned by brothers from the city of Jaffa. They are very friendly, and you will feel like They're old friends quickly.

This cafe recently opened a smaller cafe in Arroyo Grande, which sorely needs decent eateries. While the ambiance is nothing to go back for, the incredible and spicey Turkish coffee is a reason to drop in for lunch or a snack. So is the very friendly owner, who is almost always behind the counter and always courteous. The Middle Eastern cuisine is very well spiced, with a salsa bar in case you want more, and the portions are ample amd faithful to the flavors of the Orient. It is faster, easier, and less pretentious than the crowded and mediocre sports bar next door, tho without the nice outdoor patio (altho there are small tables facing the sidewalk. Jaffa Cafe in AG is pleasant, tasty, filling, with decent variety, but far from fancy. I don't recommend it for dinner or for takeout unless you are not driving far.
