This hike is pretty nice. I enjoyed it. But I had a child with me who refused to stay on the right side of the paved trail, which is scary as cyclists will zoom past.

A lovely place to spend 2-3 hours of your day. My fiance and I went there this past Sunday and even though the park was not open until 1pm (we didn't know that there was a bike race), the trail is easy and nice to walk. The paved trail is marked with 1/2 mile-1mile, so you always know how far you want to go or can go. The trail wraps around the lake and there are benches along the way. The place is wonderful for groups, individuals, young and old.
The downfalls: you can get close to the lake and dogs are not allowed :(

Sawyer Camp Trail is a well-kept popular paved trail next to Crystal Springs Reservoir. Excellent for walking, biking, or skating, there are occasional benches for rest/contemplation in front of the sparkling lake. Excellent for taking in the local flora and fauna while you get your exercise. (No dogs are allowed and you may have to park a small distance away.)

Sawyer Camp trail skirts the eastern perimeter of the lakes that
make up the Crystal Springs Reservoir. Crowded on weekends,
it is miles of easy walking in a very beautiful setting. Many places
have benches and there is a picnic area about 2 1/2 miles in from
the trailhead. Parking is on Skyline Blvd and can be hard to find
on nice weekend days.
Word of caution: while walking keep the the ride on the paved path
as bicycle riders frequent this trail. Also, be care as there is a lot of
poison oak in the dirt areas off of the main path. It turns bright red
in the Fall.

This location is along the San Andreas Fault. The water reservoir and wild life reservation allow the visitors relaxed in activities; running, bicycling, walking, roller skating and etc. You can enjoy this pace as a group with friends, as a couple with your partner, as a family with your kids or alone. The beauty of nature calms down mind and focus the wind, water, trees and the trail. I specially appreciate the policy that pets are forbidden, no surprise with unexpected barking or wastes behind on the trail.
