Description: San Mateo’s most exciting restaurant is All Spice, an eclectic, contemporary eatery from Executive Chef Sachin Chopra. Chef Chopra expertly blends the freshness of Californian ingredients with Indian spices to create an entirely new style of cuisine, at once light, familiar and warmly exotic. All Spice is proud to have been awarded a Michelin star, a distinction reserved for cuisine of the very best quality and consistency. The restaurant is housed in a converted Victorian with beautiful hardwood floors, a fireplace and a variety of architectural details. Each of three intimate dining rooms is decorated in bold, shimmering hues accented with gold. Thirty seats are scattered throughout. Professional service and a thoughtful, moderately priced wine list complement Chopra's dishes. To book reservations for parties of 5 or more, please call the restaurant directly.

This place is great for dates. The location is interesting located in a house layout. The menu changes so be aware some of the pictures you see from other user may not be ordered. This is great so you can come every few months to try out a new menu. Regardless what you order the service and the food has always been spot on for us. Will definitely be back

I was taken here by a British-Indian friend of mine. An absolute revelation - the cuisine is difficult to describe, the closest I can think of is 'European-Indian fusion'. The chef uses spices from the subcontinent to subtly add taste to meats and fish such as venison, wild boar and sea bass. The results are truly outstanding. Myself and my friend each chose different starters, mains and deserts and shared each. Everything was simply outstanding. Service was also exemplary. It was busy so you do need to book. I was told that it has recently been awarded a Michelin star - very believable, it really is of the highest standard. I live 6000 miles away but I will definitely find a reason to return and sample its delightful menu again.

Very interesting little place. The reviews are accurate, this place has very good food and amazing service, My only negative is the use of 'designer portions', which are quire small for some items. I had the roots and shoots appetizer plate which was very good, then the legume chaat as my main course. The chaat was a good sized appetizer. Some of the desserts looked very small.

The check came in a little box. Very nice.

In summary, great food!! Highly recommended!!

The "restaurant" is set in a house and hence has a very charming personality. A friend of ours recommended this place. I ordered the lemongrass-braised wagyu beef shortrib. It was simply delicious. The food is a what I would call californian indian fusion. I will go back to this place on special occasions.

We went with friends to try All Spice and it was a wonderful night.
Food was a journey of many wonderful flavors and our waiter guided us with his excellent recommendations from starters, entree and dessert.
We had expectations since it was an Indian cuisine, but it's flavors were quite different.
My wife wants to go back for her birthday, so you know she really enjoyed it.
I recommend going with a others that like to share their food and you can really try as many things as possible.
