Description: San Mateo’s most exciting restaurant is All Spice, an eclectic, contemporary eatery from Executive Chef Sachin Chopra. Chef Chopra expertly blends the freshness of Californian ingredients with Indian spices to create an entirely new style of cuisine, at once light, familiar and warmly exotic. All Spice is proud to have been awarded a Michelin star, a distinction reserved for cuisine of the very best quality and consistency. The restaurant is housed in a converted Victorian with beautiful hardwood floors, a fireplace and a variety of architectural details. Each of three intimate dining rooms is decorated in bold, shimmering hues accented with gold. Thirty seats are scattered throughout. Professional service and a thoughtful, moderately priced wine list complement Chopra's dishes. To book reservations for parties of 5 or more, please call the restaurant directly.

It's hard to get a table at this small restaurant, and having dined there I can now see why. Beautifully cooked food, a unique Californian / Indian fusion cuisine, exceptional service and fine wines. And very hard to find the restaurant which further adds to its exclusivity! A definite favourite already for me on my next trip to the area...

All Spice has become one of our favorite restaurants. We try and book a reservation any time we are spending the night at SFO prior to flying the next morning. The food is creative and very tasty. Over the past half dozen visits, there have only been a couple of misses. The portions, in our opinion, are generous, especially compared to other MIchelin star restaurants. The service is excellent and unobtrusive. The wine list is excellent and fairly priced.

After all the positive reviews, I came away disappointed. The portions are small. Some would say precious. Another party had the same complaint. The food was of mixed quality. The Boar was an uninspired curry dish. Some dishes were better executed.

This place is great for dates. The location is interesting located in a house layout. The menu changes so be aware some of the pictures you see from other user may not be ordered. This is great so you can come every few months to try out a new menu. Regardless what you order the service and the food has always been spot on for us. Will definitely be back

I was taken here by a British-Indian friend of mine. An absolute revelation - the cuisine is difficult to describe, the closest I can think of is 'European-Indian fusion'. The chef uses spices from the subcontinent to subtly add taste to meats and fish such as venison, wild boar and sea bass. The results are truly outstanding. Myself and my friend each chose different starters, mains and deserts and shared each. Everything was simply outstanding. Service was also exemplary. It was busy so you do need to book. I was told that it has recently been awarded a Michelin star - very believable, it really is of the highest standard. I live 6000 miles away but I will definitely find a reason to return and sample its delightful menu again.
