Best Western Coyote Point offered everything we needed from a hotel. It is close to the airport, the rooms are a good size & clean, plenty of parking, friendly staff,& a decent breakfast. My only proviso is that you have to have your own transport. When we originally booked our rooms last October the hotel provided a courtesy airport shuttle, & our plan was to use public transport to go into San Francisco. This is not possible. The hotel no longer provides airport transfers & to walk to the nearest BART or CALTRAN station takes at least 30 minutes.
With a car, though, the hotel is relatively easy to access. Once you have mastered the fact that coming from San Francisco or SFO on the 101 you need to drive a mile past the hotel to exit, & then double back along a residential street to be able to cross the freeway to get onto N.Bayshore Blvd. A car is also useful to find restaurants as the hotel doesn't offer meals. In this respect downtown San Mateo is lively & has plenty of places to eat & drink to suit all tastes & budgets, & is only 5 minute drive from the hotel.More
