“Best Value in The Bay Area”
Reviewed 16 November 2010

If you are staying in The Bay Area, you should stay here. Free parking, WI-Fi, business center for printing off tickets, and close to The BART. The hotel provides a free shuttle to SFO, and you can catch the BART from there, but it's double the price. Drive 3 miles to the Millbreae Station , park for a one dollar, and catch the BART there to the city. The hotel has a hot tub, sauna and workout room. The free breakfast in the morning saves time and money. It's a the value with a small. drive to all you need to have. The same place you catch the BART has IN and Out and much more. I will be staying here again. The hotel staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and the place CLEAN!!!!!

Best Western keeps the quality, that's for sure. The hotel has a free airport shuttle. Within the walking distance are the by the sea coyote point park (5min) and San Mateo downtown (20min) with a lot of dinning possibilities (King Fish restaurant being our choice). The hotel managed to check us in very early in the morning which we loved after a long flight. The rooms are spacious. Available in the hotel are also complimentary internet room with printer, sauna, fitness room, vending machines. The only disadvantage was that the staff is not really well informed about the area. Very good hotel for our one day lay over between flights in SFO area.

Really no frills, just a decent place to stay. I stayed because of the best price in the area. Staff was good, not great. Breakfast was O.K. (well stocked). I would stay here again, very clean and was in a good location for my needs. Priceline had it as a 3 star (should be a 2 1/2 star). No parking fees and indoor or outdoor parking available. Nice park nearby for great jogging. If you want something to eat, plan on driving. The location is next to two other hotels and a residential area. Short 5-10 drive for just about anything to eat.

Overall, I felt safe and it was clean, I would stay here again.

Service was prompt and friendly, building and room were clean, conveniently located to Hwy 92, and very good value. Room furnishings are outdated - TV, bedspread, curtains, pictures - but that's a minor issue.

Clean and spacious room. About 20 mins from San Fran. Good if you are not wanting to hang out at your room bc there is not much to do there but good if you just need a clean comfortable place to sleep.

My husband and I stayed a total of 5 nights. 2 nights with my mom and a teenage brother and the last 3 night with just us. The hotel is conveniently located that is and only if you have a car. We rented a car for the entire week we were out there. It is about 15 minutes drive from San Fran, less than 10 mins from the airport and 5 mins drive from local eating area.
The first 2 nights we stayed, we requested for 2 Queen size beds. After reading some of the reviews, I called in the night before to make sure that the 2 queen size beds are still available. We had no problem with our request. The room were big, clean, has an iron, a fridge and a microwave and cable t.v. It was perfect for what we needed for.
The last 3 nights we booked the reservation separately to spare some headache. We had a king size bed, non-smoking as requested and had no issues. Again the room was clean and had the same essentials.
Breakfast - it was nothing special but it was enough to carry us over to lunch. They had juice (apple, punch, & OJ), yogurt, cereals, fruit (apple, banana, orange), toast, already made egg (they were just ok. Taste super fake), and freshly made waffle that you can make yourself. For $65 a night I can't complain.
Local places to eat - one of the night we stayed there we wanted to eat where the local eat rather than pay premium prices and just ok food in the heart of San Fran. We asked the front desk and he pointed us to Poncho Villa (Mex Res) but also mention there are other places to eat as well around the area. We decided to visit Poncho Villa and it was good Mexican food. This is about less than a 5 mins drive from the hotel. We tried a couple of other restaurants in the area for the rest of our stay.
Our recommendations:
Gelato: Sergio's Pasta Shop 205 East Fourth Ave, San Mateo, Ca 94401
Vietnamese: Saigon City - 418 East 3rd Ave, San Mateo, CA 94401
Sushi - DO NO EAT at Old Town Sushi - horrible food
Mexican - Poncho Villa

Hotel was extremely clean and very well appointed. Large room with lots of closet space, very nice bathroom. Loved having a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. Despite being right off the highway, once you entered the hotel you could not hear the traffic. Front desk staff was very pleasant and extremely helpful with directions (part of the highway and some of the off ramps were under construction). Parking was a little tight at night but was able to park on the street in front of the hotel. Only suggestions for improvement are to add another computer or two to the business center (there was a line for printing boarding passes) and vary the selections on the breakfast bar. Three days of banana nut muffins is a bit much. Overall, great experience and I would definitely stay there again.
