“A great find.”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

The Camp Roberts Museum is a great find tucked in the Camp Roberts base. It may be intimidating to go out to the guards of the base, but it is worth it. Simply tell them you are there to see the museum and they will direct you to it. It is a fabulous place to see military history and especially the history of Camp Roberts. Being so close to Hollywood, there were many famous people who trained at Camp Roberts during WWII before being deployed overseas. I'm not going to tell you who....you will have to go to the museum to see or check out their facebook page.

“A bright spot in an otherwise desolate stretch of highway...”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

The memorabilia on display is great! Tanks, firearms, uniforms...a snapshot of so many different eras. If you're a fan of history, this is both a glance at military history, and US history as well. Worth a visit if you're driving down the 101 with a little time on your hands.

Free to visit, but donations are always welcomed.

“Awesome Military Museum”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

This little known military museum is actually the largest Army-theme museum in the western U.S. Not a lot of people go because it's on a military base. Camp Roberts was originally the Army's largest replacement training center for World War II, and now it's the main training and pre-deployment site for all the Army National Guard units in California. The museum has two big exhibit buildings and a lot of tanks and other track vehicles. Exhibits on the local Indians, training during WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan; also the many celebrities who trained there, like Red Skelton, Robert Mitchum, Steve Allen, Bob Newhart, etc. Free admission. Includes a video viewing room, shaded picnic area, gift shop and more. Well worth the time it takes to sign in at the main gate. Right off Hwy. 101 between Paso Robles and King City.
