“Sunday lunch with distant cousins”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

The Grille 101 is in the Embassy Suites hotel. We met a distant cousin and her mother for lunch on Memorial Day Sunday. The restaurant was empty, having been open for 1/2 hour. The breakfast crowd had gone out to see the sights, and only one other group came to dine while we were there. Of course, the restaurant also prepares and serves room service meals, so the lack of people in the dining room should not reflect upon the quality of the food preparation. The waiter took our orders. I had the Reuben sandwich, and my wife the club sandwich. We all ordered ice tea to drink, although other choices were available. The restaurant was exceptionally quiet, and we were not hurried by the staff. We spent about 90 minutes in lunch and conversation. The bill was in line with hotel restaurant dining. I had a great time meeting relatives who were unknown to me. I would recommend Grille 101 to a friend.

“Fabulous Service”
Reviewed 9 May 2014 via mobile

Saul, our waiter, provided excellent and friendly service. He was very attentive, making sure drinks were constantly refilled. Roasted artichoke appetizer is a definite recommend. We also ate at the breakfast buffet. Christa the greeter, was genuine, funny and engaging. If we visit San Rafael again, we would go there again.

“Very disappointed !”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

We had dined in this restaurant which locate in the Embassy Suites Hotel.
My husband ordered "Corned Beef Reuben" - he was thinking about a big full of corned beef sandwiches - like a real Reuben is. Unfortunately what he received was the very poor brother of the real Reuben.
The bread was toasted, there were only about 4 slices of corned beef, and the price - well the price was outrageous of this kind of very poor sandwich - $12.99 + taxes. It wasn't worth more than $4.
The service was very good - but the food, well.....

“Dining in”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

We chose this restaurant because we were staying at the hotel. The service was a 10 and they didn't charge you an automatic 18% because we had over 6 people. All the food we ordered was good except for the fish and chips. It was a disappointment that they didn't have a fresh fish for the day available when we were there. Very nice ambiance.

“Wedding Welcome Dinner”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

Had a welcome dinner for 25 people that had travelled to CA for my son's wedding. Set up and planning went very smoothly with the Banquet Office- where it all fell apart was the catering/restaurant staff. Food was tasty but cold and took 3 hours for everyone to be fed! Some were getting salads just when others were finishing their entree. This was a $1000 affair...unacceptable. The party room at the Grille 101 was very nice and this should have been a smooth affair- we had a limited menu and they had a head count. We ate several other dinners here (it was a hectic wedding weekend-it was convenient). Hosted other dinners on a smaller scale. Food tasty and fresh but service was SLOW in getting our food. It is on the pricey side for hotel fare.
