“Best Hot and Sour Soup Anywhere”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

I search out the best hot and sour soup. The House of Lee has the best. Their soup is so good that my scalp starts to perspire from the "hot" part of the soup. You will not find a better soup that at the House of Lee. A suggestion--don't wear a hat when having a bowl of hot and soup soup here--because your head will be drenched.

“I love House of Lee”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

This is one of the best Chinese, and Dim Sum, places in Marin. The prices are low. The service is adequate enough. And the food is darn good!

I like the Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, also the Szechuan Pork, and the Hot and Sour Soup. They have many good dishes.

It is not so different than other well-priced Chinese, but consistently good, well-priced, and tasty.

Also, it is one of the very few full Dim Sum menus in Marin!

“Great dimsum”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

You don't go here for the service, which can be hot/cold, you go for the delicious food and great prices. They are family friendly and the menu is varied. They have terrific lunch specials and takeout is really easy.

“Disappointing Chinese Restaurant Uses Peas and Carrots in Dishes”
Reviewed 14 August 2010

Beware: This is not an authentic Chinese (American) restaurant. My wife and I are new to San Rafael and we miss the many Chinese restaurants of San Francisco's and Oakland's Chinatowns. In Central San Rafael, the city's main business district, there are 3 Chinese restaurants on Fourth Street; this restaurant has the easiest parking with two public lots from 1/2 to 1 block away. Other than the parking, this restaurant is a deep and surprising disappointment. On our first visit, I ordered Beef Chow Mein. The resulting dish is not chow mein noodles, but thick spaghetti-sized and spaghetti-textured noodles, overly soy sauced, and was sprinkled with overly tenderized beef and a few boy choy. My wife ordered a couple of dim sum dishes, a shrimp dumpling and a pork dumpling, that were good but not outstanding. On our second visit, confirming that this is not a good Chinese restaurant, we ordered, via a waitress who did not care for small talk but wanted our order processed quickly, a wonton soup, a snow peas and beef dish, and a shrimp in lobster sauce dish. The snow peas were fresh but the beef, again, was overly tenderized. Then the peas and carrots appeared! Peas and carrots were abundantly and surprisingly PRESENT in the wonton soup and abundantly and surprisingly PRESENT in the shrimps in lobster sauce. We have never seen peas and carrots in Chinese dishes before! We wondered if this restaurant has Costco-sized bags of peas and carrots in its freezer. Moreover, the shrimp in lobster sauce LACKED the ingredient that defines the dish: black beans and black bean sauce. There were NONE present! Therefore, this is not a shrimps in lobster sauce dish, at all. If you desire Chinese food, this restaurant is NOT the place.
