Enjoyed a Thursday evening with the free (yet very stylish) live music, superb appetizers, scallops, ceviche and ravioli. My son "best steak ever". Stuffed Sole special and vegetarian poblano chile. All accompanied by two great wine selections recommended by their sommelier. All topped with great service and ambience and not pricey. Appetizers low teens, entrees in the 20s and wine 30+. Perfect for any special occasion. We will go again and trip advise any other perusers likewise.

If you find yourself in San Rafael for a day or a few days, especially on an evening with no rain, you really should treat yourself and visit the Panama Hotel.

[this review is only for the restaurant, I have not stayed at the hotel]

They have wonderful staff that will always treat you nice. They are very professional. The menu is stable and absolutely delicious. It's heavier on the fish / seafood side. But, the hamburger is very, very good. Additionally, I tried the lamb chops as well. They were cooked exactly to my specifications and delicious as well.

They have a good wine list and you will easily be able to find something by the glass if you like to match well with the various dishes.

I look forward to future visits with friends and family.

enjoyed a meal here with 12 others. the patio is a great location on a nice evening and they even have hats (panama?) if needed to ward off the sun. though the location is away from downtown it is still easy to get to. had the opportunity to try the Panama Burger with Hand Cut Fries. the Star Ranch Angus burger was cooked exactly as requested. it is served on a bun best described as ciabatta but was soft without falling apart. I wish more burgers were served with this La Brea bun. the fries were very good, crunchy with a light seasoning. too many restaurants oversalt or bury the fries under powerful seasoning but panama restaurant does a great job here. the Fire Roast Poblano Chile was exceptional. I am a meat person, preferably beef, but I decided with the chile. it was so good stuffed with the quinoa; my only peeve is I wish there were 2 chiles in the order. didn't try the Pork Chop but its diner gave it a thumbs up. it looked nice and thick. this is a nice place to come to. wait staff is efficient, I like that.

Food was outstanding.

Patio was lovely and quite comfortable - even on a warm night.

Live music playing inside.

Was a short walk from Gerstle Park Inn and downtown SR ... but well worth venturing just a few blocks from the center of downtown.

A great little spot in a off beat part of San Rafael. Well worth the trip. The food is very good, the service is good. They have music on the weekends, which for me can be a little distracting and loud for the space. If you like music, you will probably like this.
