This is a place you might skip if you don't know it's there. It is small on State Street. There are beautiful pictures from Impressionists to Modern. There are also private exhibits that change. It is a terrific place to spend a 75 minute period of time--which is how long you can park for free in any lot.

An interesting variety of pieces from different cultures.
We joined a docent led group discussing techniques, it was great to visit different items to contrast and compare how the work was produced. It gave us an opportunity to look with 'fresh eyes' at things we would not usually stopped and looked at n detail. The large Chinese screen came to life with the guidance of our docent, the interaction of the group also added to the experience. We then perused the galleries at leisure.

There is a little cafe where we had lunch which was superb, fresh produce, at its best. The cucumber lemonade was especially delicious

What a wonderful little museum with a few really out standing pieces. We enjoyed sketching the Roman statues.

We stopped in to view the Degas to Chagall exhibit which was well presented. While we were wandering around a docent invited us to join her half hour tour. Linda was so knowledgeable and amusing we were truly sorry when the tour ended.

We ate lunch at the Museum café - very fresh and delicious food. The service was a tiny bit slow but perhaps the two young ladies were volunteers!

Museum was cool. Parking in doors. We visited during a heat wave. Particularly liked the Asian floor, and special exhibits on Heavenly bodies and La Crema. This is a small museum. A few nice gems for its size.
