“Crowed but wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

It is no wonder that this place attracts so many visitors. Parking can be a little much, but worth it. The Boathouse Cafe is excellent, the beach, view, and "dog friendly area" can't be beat. No visit to Santa Barbara is complete without this experience. Breakfast and a morning walk along the cliffside beach is my kind of nice.

“great beach, dogs run free”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

A really fun beach in Santa Barbara. Prettier than the harbour beaches and dogs allowed. On the south side of the beach (south of the estuary) dogs can run off leash. North, dogs are allowed but on leash.

It's really pretty -- good views of the cliffs and the beach itself.

Gets crowded on the weekend and the parking is small. Be careful of getting trapped in the line of cars waiting for someone to leave and blocking off your ability to bail and find other parking. There's another county park just up the hill and you can also park there and walk down.

There can be tar on the sand -- nearby drilling and all. So, you may end up with some on your feet and it's a pain to clean off. On our last trip, only one of the 3 of us ended up with a spot of tar and it was pretty small. I've heard some folks say that it's been a lot worse on other trips

Our doggie says we should go back there again.

“Tar Baby”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014

gorgeous weather and views, enjoyed the zen garden appearance of small boulders as the tide went out but it took us half an hour to scrape the tar off of our feet and scrub the residue off with acetone.

“Perfect For Early Morning Walk And Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Arroyo Burro is a wonderful spot to start the morning. Bring your dog for off-leash fun on the beach and later enjoy breakfast (can't recall the name of the restaurant), but it is wonderful. Very Santa Barbara.

“Dogs love it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Locals call this Hendry's Beach and sometimes you can see whales and dolphins off shore. There is a small free parking lot, but get there early as it fills up quickly. The restaurant is reasonably priced and has a great view of the water. Lots of people come here with their dogs and it's great fun to watch!
