Stayed here once before. It has only become better. A truly wonderful experience. They know how to cater to every detail. This is how life is supposed to be lead. what a treat to be welcomed to cupcakes. What a treat to have an unbeatable hors d'oeuvres. What a treat to have breakfast under the arbor!!

Room Tip: You simply cannot go wrong.

It's a magical place to spend some quiet time in a garden paradise. The value for the money is outstanding. From the complimentary full breakfast served in the garden to the afternoon wine & hors d'oeuvres. Lovely quaint cottages. Simply the most delightful place on earth.

Simply outstanding. We've stayed at The Simpson House Inn on numerous occasions beginning in 2002. Each and every time I wish we could stay longer and in lieu of that impossibility begin to plot our next visit. The staff is always wonderful. The rooms are beyond charming. The grounds alone make the stay worthwhile providing an oasis from the hustle and bustle that is often California. Breakfast outside is not to be missed weather permitting. State Street and Mission Santa Barbara are short blocks away. Simply outstanding.

From the personal welcome we received upon arrival to the goodbye when checking out. This place is fantastic.
Our room was perfect, the decor is nuts but very homely. No minimalist need apply.
The house is set in it's own grounds with a great garden to sit in and pass the time away.
A chess and wine buffet is put on in sitting early evening and it seems that most of the guest attend. It's like a little party every night, with everyone discussing their day and where to go for dinner.
I just hope they have room for us when we manage to get our next leave dates
It's a real gem

Room Tip: Look on the web site as the pictures are good and true.

Me and the wife came here this past weekend for our two year wedding anniversary. We had a rough few weeks due to work and this place was nothing less than perfect for what we wanted.

The house is about a half mile straight off the 101 in a semi residential neighborhood. The house is hidden behind bushes and trees and has a large very well maintained yard with lots of seating areas. We stayed in the main house which definitely is European in style and decor. The room we stayed in had a beautiful view onto the yard and was so enjoyable that we decided to have our breakfast in the the room. The breakfasts were included and they give you plenty of choices. The food was very good and highly recommend ordering poached eggs (they know how to make them perfect). With charm and ambiance comes also a little extra caution. The bathroom/shower is smaller with antique hardware so one has to be sensitive to that. Also, the water smelled a little sulfuric.

We arrived on Friday late afternoon and they served some light snacks (deviled eggs, cheeses bread, salads etc.) and several wines (all included) which we took plenty advantage of. We spent the entire Saturday in the back yard napping, reading, wine drinking, talking to other guests and this is the place where you want to do exactly that. At night we simply ordered from a local restaurant.

The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. This place doesn't have a concierge nor a check in counter. If you need help with anything including check in/out you simply ring a bell which we never actually had to do. We even got a tour of a couple of the rooms in the building behind the main house. The rooms are a little more modern and have more of a country house feel. I would say that all the rooms are very charming and it's a matter of taste.

My only beef was the noise from the carpet cleaner one house over and some other chain saw/lawn mower action from across the street of what was otherwise a quiet neighborhood.

We already decided to come back for our next getaway weekend.

Room Tip: The bungalows in the back half to upstairs units with sky lights. More privacy and a bit roomier.

Stayed here @ the end of April & beginning of May, the cottage we were in was small but adequately equipped, this was our 1st experience of an American B&B & staff, quality & service cannot be faulted, would definitely recommend This establishment to anyone visiting Santa Barbara, luxury @ it's best. Both my wife & I felt that anything after would be hard to beat.

Third visit to Simpson house. Have stayed in many of the other Santa Barbara B&B's and hotels over the years. This is our return spot. Arrived during a heat wave. Wisked up from our car to our second floor room (Hayloft) in one of the cottages. AC in room was on and the room was prepared for us and cool!! Coming out of 90 + degree heat, it was such a pleasure to unpack and rest in a chilled oasis. Hayloft is a beautiful room. Porch overlooks the garden and was a nice space for early morning reading. High ceiling. Comfortable bed. Windows. Size of bathroom very functional. Room has a sitting couch area and a table for in room dining. Iced tea and cookies were available in the main house for our mid afternoon arrival. The gardens are lovely. Skipped the evening cheese and wine this visit due to early dinner reservations. The staff checked for AC in a restaurant and got us reservations nearby. Breakfast in the morning was as usual delightful even with our dietary restrictions. The rooms vary especially in the main house. The cottage rooms are pricier but very nice. Service and attention has been consistently excellent on each of our visits.

Room Tip: Cottage rooms are nice. I loved Hayloft. Some rooms in the main house have very small bathrooms.
