Charming nostalgic hotel in a nice location a couple of blocks from beautiful Butterfly Beach. The small room was clean, well appointed and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful with reservations for dinner and directions. Wine tasting maps and discounts were offered. Don't miss the famous coconut cake in the restaurant.

I will confess - after reading some of the reviews, my wife and I were a little apprehensive about staying here for our anniversary. Those concerns quickly evaporated. We were warmly welcomed by the valet and cheerfully checked in by the front desk. Room 210 was beautifully decorated with stylish dark furnishings, a white linen duvet, and well-coordinated sand and black accents. Though not huge, the room was large by European standards - well lit with windows on 2 sides. The bathroom was small but very comfortable, immaculate and retained an old fashioned feel with a pedestal sink, tiled walls, and a tiled floor with tiny flower accents. We were advised by the front desk that all the rooms had been remodeled in the past few months - the decorator did an excellent job selecting colors, fabrics and amenities to create a romantic and elegant feel.

The room also hit all the marks on electronics - excellent, fast, free wifi, a Belkin power strip with multiple power and USB outlets, an extension cord available to items on the nightstand, an iHome clock radio with an Apple lightning connector and a very nice Samsung flat-screen. Perfect. We did not see a safe but had no need for one on this trip.

The location is quite good with easy access to 101 and the beautiful Butterfly beach fronting Santa Barbara's Biltmore. We also enjoyed walking through Montecito Village - in addition to a smattering of art galleries, there is excellent coffee at the nearby Coffee Bean and 5 or 6 very good restaurants within 3 blocks of the hotel. We had one of the best Italian dinners we've ever experienced at Trattoria Mollie across the street - amazing!

Several people mentioned noise as an issue. Our room overlooked the pool with Hwy 101 in the distant background. There was definite freeway notice when the windows were open but the room was exceptionally quite when everything was closed. We never heard a peep from the adjacent guest room and enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep.

Bottom line - the Montecito Inn is a charming older facility that has been very well maintained and tastefully updated - it offers a cozy, romantic feel in the lovely village. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to stopping in the future when we find ourselves in beautiful Santa Barbara.

This was about my sixth stay. It's always clean with comfortable beds. Rooms are small, unless you spring for a suite, which is Old Hollywood Style awesome. Perfect location for our annual Lotusland visit.

Room Tip: The historic inn nearly sits on the freeway, which wasn't there when Charlie Chaplin built it fo...

We stayed here for two nights while visiting in Santa Barbara. This is a neat hotel with some history. It was built by Charlie Chaplin and served as a half way point between Los Angeles and the Hearst Castle. The hotel embraces this history with many posters of Charlie throughout the hotel. The rooms are on the smaller side, but very clean and comfortable. The beach and restaurants are within walking distance. Breakfast was included, but parking/valet are extra. We did not use the pool, but it appeared clean and the guests using it told us the water was warm. We would recommend this hotel if you are staying Santa Barbara.

Good location on Montecito's main street and 10 min walk from the beach. The hotel is quite basic. My room was pretty small with a dated bathroom. Room walls are very thin, so I could endulge on the conversation and activity in the next rooms. Hotel staff were nice and attentive. Breakfast was basic, but there was coffee available all day long. The best thing is that next door is Lucky's steakhouse

We stayed here three nights while our daughter was looking at colleges in the area. We were able to walk to area restaurants and Starbucks is not far away. The Valet workers were awesome, they went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. The tub/shower was a bit unusual and would be hard for some people.

Needed an overnite stay in the Santa Barbara area and since it was spring break, decided to avoid the beach areas in favor of Montecito. Chose the Montecito Inn as we had stayed there some time ago and wanted to revisit.
The price point was very fair for such a convenient location and service oriented spot. The room, though small, was perfect, cozy and well appointed from the very comfortable bed, soft luxurious bathrobes and lovely bath and body products. We heard some noise from adjacent rooms plumbing, but no freeway or traffic noise.(room 207)
Service was terrific, from valet parking to check in process, and especially nice since I left my cellphone which they sent promptly.( I received it within 24 hours of arriving back home.) Thank you!
The complimentary breakfast was fine, not nearly as nice as everything else, but we were only looking for coffee and a Danish prior to leaving.
We were not at all disappointed and would recommend this lovely little inn and plan to return. I wish we would have looked at suites.

Room Tip: I would ask about room size and storage if I was traveling w/kids or staying for more than a few day...
