“Great Find!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

We stayed here for one night with our dog. Staff was friendly and helpful when we checked in. Our room was really big, it had a fireplace and kitchen/dining area. I wish we would've made more use of it, but we only stayed one night. The beach is a couple blocks away, but we ended up driving every where anyway. There were signs all over the property baring dogs from relieving themselves on the grass, so we had to walk around the neighborhood to walk our dog. There's a baseball park across the way, but don't go there at night alone. The lights to the park turned off while we were walking our dog and there were a lot of homeless people around. The Inn also offered free DVDs to borrow to watch in your room, which was cool. It was surprisingly a good collection too. It was a nice little find for us!

We stayed at this little gem in SB with our dogs and loved it. Very clean and cozy, and all the rooms have kitchenettes. It's located in an adorable little neighborhood just two blocks from the beach and shopping district. We stayed 3 nights and didn't need to get in the car to drive once. And when we checked in, the lovely inn-keeper gave us a list of dog-friendly restaurants in the area. Our favorite was the pub just around the corner, that even had a little menu with fresh treats for the dogs! Our only complaint was the heat wave SB was experiencing, a rarity for them -hence the lack of air conditioning. No worries though, it just gave us all the more reason to stay at the beach!

Room Tip: Great, well stocked kitchenettes...

Finally getting around to a review after the 3rd visit to Beach House. I travel from Seattle to Phoenix once a year with my 3-year-old lab, and always make Santa Barbara an overnight stay because of the Beach House Inn. Rooms are always clean, spacious and comfortable. There is a dedicated and very private, secure parking lot behind the hotel, and each room opens into a lovely courtyard, with street and neighborhood access just a few feet away for quick or long dog walks. The beach is just a short 10 minute walk through these neighborhoods, and I always feel safe, especially when traveling alone. Each room has a wonderful kitchenette, which would make this a fabulous place to stay longer if I could! But if you are there briefly, there are tons of little restaurants and markets where you can grab a bite to bring back. I have always been greeted with such warmth, regardless of my quick stays. I cannot recommend this place more highly for a solo traveler, solo traveler with a dog, or a family wanting to get close to the beach in Santa Barbara.

Spent the weekend at the beach house inn with my sister and our doggies for a girls weekend getaway. It was perfect. From the moment we checked in till the moment we left Pam and her daughter made us feel right at home. The grounds were well kept and very quaint. Pam directed us to various places that were dog friendly. From the beach to restaurants to even wine tasting. The room was clean and comfortable. And the hotel was perfect walking distance to most things except the doggie beach. I would definitely stay here again!! It's an absolute gem!!

After calling many hotels trying to find where we could stay while traveling with two dogs, I chose this hotel because they were the most polite and friendly on the phone and the property looked lovely on the website.

Upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the staff actually WELCOME people traveling with pets, its not a burden at their hotel and the dog fee is very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area.

PROS:
CLEAN!!!
Beautifully furnished rooms with separate mini kitchens fully stocked and full size fridge instead of one of those minibar types (great for staying a week or a day)
Located in a nice residential neighborhood close to many PET FRIENDLY restaurants
DVD player in room with free movies to use on the honor system
Heavenly patio to sit and drink coffee or have an afternoon cocktail, wine and cheese etc.
Free Wi-Fi for multiple devices
Anything we needed, whether it be advice on where to eat, how to use the remote, a beach towel, or where to get real milk for coffee, was promptly and pleasantly given to us. We couldn't have been happier.

CON:
You must walk off the property for your dog to do his/her business (this really isn't a con but for someone that has to get up during the night for an older pet to go out, this might be a consideration walking down the sidewalk in your robe, it wasn't a problem for me, a very short distance and a safe neighborhood to boot)
If you are traveling during a heat wave, there are big fans in the rooms but no A/C but most days of the year, you wouldn't need it and the rooms have lots of windows to get a cross breeze.

Note: This is a woman-owned business, small boutique type property with no weight limit on pets.

We enjoyed our visit to this nice hotel. They are dog friendly ($10 /day fee) and have a great list of dog friendly attractions and restaurants in the local area. They are only 2 blocks from the beach.

We used their handout on where to have lunch at one of the local restaurants.

Having been on the road for a couple of weeks we enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of this nice little property. We really enjoyed just walking around Santa Barbara and having a low key visit.

Our room had a kitchen where we prepared our dinner. I don't think all rooms have kitchens and there is no pool since this is a small property. We are planning to visit again real soon on our next trip to Southern California.

A tip since they are only a few blocks to the train station from Los Angeles & Amtrak. They give a discount if you arrive and stay car free during your visit. Check it out.

This is a very nice, easy to find treasure, walking distance to train with an extra discount provided for travelers without a car! I was not at first thought happy about being so far from the beach (3 blocks) but found the walk very pleasant and safe even after sunset as a lone female traveler. The rooms were spacious and clean, beds comfy and well appointed. The fireplace added a hominess not found in the bigger chains. As well the owners and front desk crew were amiable, helpful with directions and had great coffee and fixings available on the deck at first light. I met some wonderful people hanging out in the garden area, which was rich in fabulous blooms and auditory and olfactory delights! I WILL be going again

Room Tip: I liked room #6 with the lil kitchen and fridge for my wine!
