“I liked My Stay Here”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

I stayed over a Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night and the room with a King bed was about $620 out the door. It was big enough for two and it was clean and quiet except for when our neighbor next door decided to slam the door at 6:30 in the morning. That's not the Inn's fault though. The Inn is trying to be sustainable which means they do things that don't wreck the earth as much as other places do. For example, all their plastic utensils and cups are compostable. This is a big plus for me and I hope for others too who care about the future of our beautiful planet. Breakfast was just okay. Healthier food could have been served and on one of the days there were no bagels. Huh? All in all, I give this place a thumbs up. Oh it's a few minutes from the beach and about a 15 minute walk to the stores on State Street.

We were welcomed by the friendly staff and started to feel almost like at home. The Franciscan Inn is in a quiet location. The rooms were very clean and tidy, the kitchen in our suite as well. You can enjoy free wifi, a good sized pool and a "private" breakfast in the morning. A variety of bagels, muffins, oat meal and much more are offered in the small lobby. You might either eat there and chat or take your food and go outside or to your room. We decided to chat and loved the atmosphere. Great inn,
don't miss it !

The lady in the front office was very friendly and welcoming. She gave us a map and circled directions to places we were interested in. Look at your map -it has some discounts in there.

There is free parking in the motel's courtyard. There is also a pool. Our room had a queen bed but seemed like a very small queen, but it was comfortable. The room itself was a bit small, but we only stayed one night. You could walk easily to the ocean.

In the morning there was a wide variety of foods available, like toaster waffles, coffee, and the like. Oddly, though, there was a lady stationed behind a table set up with pastries ( they all looked good) coffee, and juice. She "served" you. Was she guarding the pastries so you wouldn't take more than one?????... because she asked "Do you want this OR that? Coffee OR orange juice?" That whole set up made me feel uncomfortable. Plus, right on the table was a TIP JAR!! Not cool.

We grabbed breakfast elsewhere.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night on way down the coast. Very convenient location. Staff at desk very helpful about where to eat, etc. Walked down to beach. Breakfast included but no tables to eat at, so you sit on the couch or other chairs, so not very comfortable. Room clean, but small. Served our purpose for 1 night. Very good price.

I am conflicted about this place. The location is very close to the beach, which is a plus and a minus. It is walkable to downtown, although a long walk to the northern parts of State Street. It was moderately clean, I didn't think it was super clean.

We had a Deluxe Queen room (no standard rooms available when I booked.) Our room was partially updated and partially not. It was pretty large although split into 3 areas, bedroom, bathroom/hallway, kitchen. The kitchen was nice to have, but we only used the refrigerator and it was sparsely furnished (chairs were pretty uncomfortable). The kitchen appliances were very old, and sort of vintage, but mostly 1980's ugly. The bathroom was partially updated, but the old sink remained. It was kind of kitschy-vintage fun, but also really small and hard to use. The bathroom needed more towels bars/hooks. I am short so I couldn't reach the hook on the back of the door without jumping. The wallpaper, curtains and carpet were from the 1980's or 1990's and the carpet looked pretty dirty. The bedroom was small and needed a decent chair or other place to lay things, but it was well lit and the furniture was pretty new. I thought the bed and pillows were very comfortable.

The desk staff were friendly and professional. The street noise was an issue on July 4th (to be expected), but it did quiet down after everyone cleared out from the fireworks.

For what we paid, I was hoping for something a little nicer, but it was a holiday weekend, so nothing was exactly a deal in town.

The Franciscan Inn at 109 Bath St. in Santa Barbara is perfect for people on the move who are looking for a reasonably priced, well maintained place to crash at night while you are out sightseeing and playing during the day. The location is one block off the beach and only three blocks from Stearns Warf, Cabrillo Park and State Street. They have free parking, a pool and
spa. Free WiFi and typical hotel TV. The offer regular rooms, suites and mini-suites. We opted for a regular room because all we needed was a homebase to shower and sleep.

Room Tip: All rooms are very quiet since it is off the main beach road.

The reviews from Trip Advisor were spot on. This hotel is clean, peaceful w/ great location. All of the staff were incredibly helpful. The breakfast server was adorable- serving up the pastries & coffee. The rooms were extra large which we appreciated.
