“great hike!”

This is a great hike even if you don't hike often or do it all the time. once you reach the end of this hike, there are trails that go higher up they arent used much so be careful going up those

“The locals will be mad if I share this with you”

The map on this web-site is misleading. To find these trails you have to drive all the way to the end of tunnel street. There's very little parking at the trailhead this is the only real problem with this activity. This is as much a climb as it is a hike. You can easily take the wrong way on the trail. The trail is not well marked and you can easily lose the trail and end up crawling through the brush. The only way I can easily describe what to do is to follow the trail and stay to the left. When you get to the creek and you have to cross the creek by stepping over rocks, get to the north side of the creek and look for the trails leading away from the creek. The established trails lead off in different directions, the one on the left is shorter and ends up with the great veiw of the city and ocean. the one the right goes up the mountain and parallels the creek. On your first trip I recommend you go for the view on the left. This is a good hike, you have to be in shape to enjoy it.

“I couldn't believe my friends and I hiked”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2007

this trail! I was told it was only a 1/4 of a mile to the falls and then we had another 1/4 of a mile up to the main falls but that we had to actually climb over the falls itself.

The hike was actually close to 5 miles on way...BUT IT WAS AMAZING!

The only down side is if you have problems with you knees, don't do it. All up hill and then all down hill.

I can't wait to go back...the view was just amazing and this time I'm hoping for some water!!

(We went in January and there had been no rain. So only deep, yucky pools of water were there)

7 falls is one of the most beautiful spots I've hiked to in Southern California! Initially we took the wrong trail and ended up hiking to the top of a look out spot; it was a beautiful detour. After turning around and finding the correct trail we were more than ready to jump in to the not too cold pools between the falls. I would highly recommend this hike to anyone interested in a day adventure!

“Amazing Day Hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2001

This was the most incredible hike I have taken in the United States, aside from John Muir trial or some other trails in Yosemite. The beginning of the hike doesn't seem incredibly interesting, though you get a grand view of the city and ocean from above. The real fun starts about a mile in when you run into the stream that powers the 7 falls above. It's a bit tricky, but you start walking along the waters edge upward. The lower section is so so, but after about 10 minute of climbing upward, you start hitting some nice size falls, with large swimming holes. You have to be somewhat in shape to see all the big falls. If you don't want to climb the falls, you can go to Inspiration point--walk across the stream and take the path to the right. After about 30 minutes you reach the summit and get a beautiful view of the town and ocean. This is a great little treasure!! Do it.
