My husband and I had a great afternoon in SB and decided last minute to stay overnight. We were intimidated by the prices of the hotels and at first glance thought staying the night would not be possible at $500 a night! We seen Hotel Indigo was a reasonably priced hotel and went for it! I'm so glad we did! The customer service was superior, parking with valet was easy and the bigger bonus was the fabulous restaurant they have next door! The rooms are very small but the trendy decorative feel put us in a New York cozy vibe. I actually enjoyed the tight space with my hubby! What a great experience we had! Customer service is everything and the hotel was so attentive! We even got a discount card from the front desk for breakfast near the beach that was walking distance. I'm so glad we chose Hotel Indigo and would definitely return again!

Stayed in a compact king room with private patio with our small dog. The room faced the railroad tracks, but this never seemed to be a problem and wasn't loud overnight. The patio was a great add on since the room was compact, but everything was extremely clean and comfy!

Room Tip: Requesting a patio room is well worth it! Specially if staying in a compact room.

This is a short walk to everything. The Blue Tavern next door was amazing. The locals seem to love it. The only down side was hauling my luggage up the stairs because there is no elevator, but if your traveling light it's not a problem. I probably should have taken them up on the help up they offered. The hotel is very small, but I liked that. The outdoor patios were fun for after hours. Overall, it was good. I would stay there again.

Staff was courteous but somewhat automatized. Location was outstanding: walking distance to Santa Barbara pier and historical downtown. Complimentary wi-fi and parking lot. There was a little restaurant connected to the hotel, but only coffee itself was complimentary for guests - we had to pay for the rest of the breakfast. There is a train line crossing just a few meters from the hotel, but this was not really a big deal for us. We slept the whole night comfortably. Got upset because we woke up in the morning the day we left the hotel with an intense malodorous inside our room, probably due to plumbing services next door (we are not sure abou the cause of the malodorous). We did not report this to the from desk while checking-out because we where really in a hurry to take the road. Despite some inconvenients, I would consider to stay there again mainly because of the location.

Dear Ernesto,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review after your recent stay. We’re glad you enjoyed the hotel’s fabulous location and restaurant Blue Tavern. Breakfast is a la carte but can be included by reserving a breakfast package online. I was disappointed to hear about a sound inside your room and am curious which room you stayed in so our Maintenance Engineer can make any repairs if necessary. Thank you for your time and understanding, please contact me directly at the hotel when booking your next reservation. We look forward to providing an inconvenience-free stay with excellent guest service.

The hotel is situated on State street (restaurant and shopping street) just a few minutes walking from the boardwalk, the central beach and the pier in Santa Barbara. I.E.: location is perfect. Everything you need is within walking distance. Better yet, the restaurant in the same building looks cool and according to locals is a good place for lunch or dinner.

Service was also impeccable; locals in the reception helped us with what to check out, what to stay away from, where to eat and so on.

However, the reason for not getting full score from me is (1) the small hotel room (we had a king bed w/ patio) and (2) the noise from the occasional passing trains.

Even though the rooms are cool as cool can be with brick wall and street art, it always felt cramped (we had one big suitcase) and messy. Luckily, the patio was our savior, it's like another room and adds significantly to the size of the hotel room. Besides, it's totally private and even gets sun!
Unfortunately, our room was facing the next door train tracks, and once in a while a train passed making a terrible noise. Therefore: do stay but get a room (with patio) on the other side of the building).

One small thing I'd like to add: why do so many hotels lack something to hold toothbrushes?

Anyways, I recommend a stay, but be aware of (1) and (2).

Dear Kethom,
Thank you for the review of Hotel Indigo’s prime location, friendly staff, restaurant, and compact designed rooms. We enjoyed reading your detailed feedback and appreciate the information you’ve left for future guests, especially about our sunny patio rooms! The Amtrak station next door has provided a convenient car-free option for many travelers and we advertise our location so guests are aware before reserving. Thank you again for the detailed review and recommending Hotel Indigo!
