Lovely drive if you can work out the directions! End up at junctions with a poor map and no idea where to go because the signs seem to be non-existentent.

As you pass the beautiful Santa Barbara Mission heading towards the mountains you come to a Y in the road. There is a sign in the center island which says SCENIC DRIVE, with the arrow pointing to the right and a street called Alemeda Padre Serra or just A.P.S. by the locals. Heading uphill, through a winding, tree shrouded road you see nothing except hedges, trees, apartments, houses and an occasional glimpse of the city, ocean and islands. After about 1.5 miles, the road divides and becomes scenic for about 500 yards before becoming very narrow and dangerous as it winds it's way down towards the city. Forget the somewhat OK views at that point if you are the driver! There are so many other beautiful drives in this lovely little town, this sign must be a holdover from years ago when there were few trees and big houses to block the view. Now, it is little more than a bad joke on tourists.

We really enjoyed our drive it was beautiful. We also pulled into one parking lot to go to the beach and found a lovely restaurant on the beach. Nice surprise. The weather, beaches and drive made for a very relaxing and pleasant day.
