I went to Super-Rica recently after a long hiatus and THEY STILL ARE THE BEST. Even tho it was almost unbearably hot, crowded, and they were clearly under staffed, the food was DELICIOUS. They did not disappoint. It is hard to avoid a line but we didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes and a table was available when we needed one.
I had the Chile Relleno in Crema, a white sauce. The Crema was not so good. Have had better Crema there on their tamales. The Fondito was excellent and much better than at Los Agaves. Super-Rica uses a Spanish chorizo and it is delicious. For me the best three places in Santa Barbara are, in no particular order due to various different reasons for going there, SUPER-RICA, LOS ARROYOS, and LILY'S TACOS. LOS AGAVES comes in due to their very different menu.
If only you could have eaten at MALDO'S RESTAURANT, now that was good food, but its been gone for at least 25 years. See the mural at the PARADISE CAFE.
Currently, the restaurant is TEMPORARILY closed on Tuesday and Wednesday for a special remodel project, so call to make sure it open.
